Weeks of unpaid wages, mismanagement allegations, and failing accountability mean some local radio stations might close for good. Employees have worked for months without pay, putting vital community lifelines at risk.

We caught up with Mr Nick Motloung (Founder of Madibeng FM & Chairperson of the National Community Radio Forum) at the North West Media Sustainability & Collaboration Summit held at NWU Mafikeng Campus on 23-24 April 2026. He breaks down how this crisis is devastating staff, families, and the communities they serve.

Reflecting on an insightful experience at the North West Sustainability & Collaboration Summit held at the NWU Mafikeng Campus.

The reunion of B.O.P at the Dj Coco & Dj Nana HOUSE PARTY was a powerful reminder of the roots of South African music. Their sound- raw, militant and punchy hooks are truly timeless.

Hearing Zabalaza again made us all reminisce about our journey towards freedom, while hits like Manyonyoba and O Kae Molao? showed that their melodic chords and punchy hooks are truly timeless.

What made this night special was the bridge it built. It was a platform for the youth and the elders to stand together and honour the legends who built this industry. This wasn’t a party; it was a 10 year full-circle history lesson.

We are proud to have been part of the collaborative partner chosen to document this legacy. We are already looking forward at how we’ll amplify this vision for the 2026 festive season.
