I was in a meeting with a business owner and their sales team.
We started talking about their leads.
And one of the sales reps says, “Oh, I track everything here.”
She pulls out a small A5 notebook.
Handwritten leads.
No system. No follow-up. Just pages.
Last month?
She captured over 70 leads.
One of them was worth R100,000.
Now let’s keep the math simple.
Let’s say they closed 7 deals at R10k each.
That’s R70,000 for the month.
Sounds decent, right?
But here’s the problem.
That’s where it stopped.
No follow-up system.
No nurture.
No second chance.
Just… missed opportunity.
Because what if they followed up properly?
Out of those same 70 leads, let’s say they closed just 3 more the next month.
That’s another R30,000.
And over the next 10 months?
Maybe another 4 deals?
That’s R40,000 more.
Same leads.
No extra ad spend.
No extra effort getting new prospects.
Just better follow-up.
Moral of the story is, most businesses don’t have a lead problem.
They have a follow-up problem.
And it’s costing them more than they realize.
It is lost sales you don't even see.
Leads coming in.
But no system to turn them into consistent sales.
So money slips through the cracks.
If you’re getting leads but not enough sales, then you need to see where things are breaking.
