Housing Protest – Randfontein Ward 2 – 15-May-2025
Physical site visit / site inspection at Dan Tloome Housing Project (Part of Mega City Development) on Wednesday 14-May-2025 :
Portfolio of evidence :
Houses are equipped with 24V 3KW interverter system , but
only lights and plugs with basic devices like TV’s , laptops ,
cellphones , computers can be used

No stoves , heaters , kettles vacuum cleaners can be used
The residence is fully occupied , but NO basic
electricity infrastructure are installed in any
residence
Residents received municipal accounts , but are BILLED
FOR WATER where at the same time pre-paid water meters
are installed on each premises (which they cannot use or
know how to reload the prepaid water token purchased)

Residents are billed R213.41 per month for refuse removal
of which does not exists nor are any waste skips provided
or wheeliebins to each household. There has NEVER been
ANY refuse removal from day 1

Residents receives monthly municipal accounts , in all
cases of which NONE of them can pay as they are
unemployed or are the elderly
The standard residence in this development is 10m x 8m ,
thus 80m2 in total

Houses seems to have been built 2-3 years ago , still
EMPTY and UNOCCUPIED , overgrown with bushes , in many
places roof height

NONE of the residences or houses have down pipes ,
gutters for leading water from the roof or any other form
of water drainage affixed to the building , but it gets
allocated to human beings to live in

Water meters were found vandalised and leaking , hearing
the water running through them into the bare ground and
veld : who will be responsible for footing the bill for
this water on any empty and unoccupied residence ?

There are HUGE DOUBT that the allocation of houses and
residential units are done and managed via the many
years long waiting list , residents waiting for average
20 years and STILL NOT ALLOCATED a residence / house
On first eyesight , these residences seems to be and are
UNSAFE and a HUMAN RISK to live in
Unallocated houses standing unoccupied for 2-3-4 years ,
are STILL not allocated against the housing waiting list
On grounds of the above , this WHOLE MEGACITY PROJECT
seems a waste of taxpayer monies and monies being LOOTED
by CONTRACTORS with SHODDY WORKSMANSHIP , NO
SKILLS and NO BUILDING EXPERIENCE !
THE RANDFONTEIN MEGA CITY HOUSING – AND RESIDENTIAL PROJECT IS A HUGE DISATER WAITING TO HAPPEN AND BILLIONS OF RANDS OF TAXPAYERS MONIES BEING LOOTED AND STOLEN , WITH SPECIFIC REFERENCE TO THE R11bn MONTROSE GHOST CITY PROJECT A FEW KILOMETERS AWAY , WHICH ALREADY CLAIMED A HUMAN LIFE AND BEING STRIPPED TO THE BARE BRICK STRUCTURE !!
