Today we honour the courage of the youth who changed the course of our history and celebrate the dreamers, creators, innovators, and storytellers shaping our future.

At SA Books Online, we believe every story has the power to inspire change, preserve identity, and build a stronger South Africa.

What an incredible weekend! 🌍✨

This past Saturday, we took our heritage conversations out of the traditional indoor setting and directly onto the soil where Southern African history was forged.

Walking the Trails of Mzilikazi at the Wonderboom Nature Reserve was a truly profound experience. Guided by esteemed historian and author Nthebe Molope, we physically traced the tactical movements of the King, unpacking vital leadership lessons right where those historical power shifts occurred.

A massive thank you to the people who joined us for this premium fusion of wellness, history, and high-level networking. This is just the beginning of our mission to centre, preserve, and amplify African narratives through The Afrocentric Agenda event series.

Don’t miss out on our next immersive encounter! Be the first to know about our upcoming events by registering your details on the link below. πŸ‘‡πŸΎ

Happy Africa Day to our amazing SA Books Online community! πŸŒπŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

Today is a day to reflect on the beauty, diversity, and resilience of the African continent. At SA Books Online, we believe that our stories are our greatest treasure.

Whether you're diving into the Booker Prize-winning prose of Damon Galgut, dismantling stereotypes with Dipo Faloyin, or getting lost in a classic, every page written by an African author is a journey through our shared identity. Let’s keep honoring our voices and our heritage today and every day. πŸ“šπŸ€Ž

πŸ—£οΈ Let's build a community reading list! Drop your all-time favorite book by an African author in the comments below. What should we be reading next?

Last night, we stood on a national stage and were reminded why we started.

SA Books Online has been awarded 1st Place in the Creative IP of Excellence category at the CIPC Youth Awards 2026 and for a small business with a big vision, this moment means everything.

What started as an idea to preserve, promote, and platform South African voices has grown into a living, breathing community of storytellers, readers, and cultural custodians. This award is not just a win for us, it is a win for every author who trusted us with their work; every reader who believes in local stories, and every dream that refused to be limited by resources.

Building something from the ground up is not easy. It comes with uncertainty, sacrifice, and countless unseen hours. But moments like this remind us that the work matters. That our stories matter. That we matter.

We are deeply grateful for the recognition, and even more committed to continuing the journey by amplifying voices, celebrating literature, and shaping the future of South African storytelling.

Thank you for believing in us. This is only the beginning. πŸ“š

What an incredible afternoon of shifting the narrative!

Yesterday, SA Books Online hosted our hybrid dialogue: "What It Really Means To Publish African" at the UJ Nadine Gordimer Auditorium. The energy from both our in-person guests and our virtual audience was absolutely unmatched!
From kicking off the afternoon with a feature on Channel Africa, the stage was set for a truly powerful conversation.

A massive thank you to our incredible speakers:
Wikus Van Zyl for pulling back the curtain on the journey and vision of UJ Press.
Dr. JJ Klaas for beaming in from the Eastern Cape to drop profound historical gems about his book, Triangle of One Hundred Years Wars.

Thank you to the attendees who showed up, engaged with the UJ Press book exhibition, and asked the pertinent questions about how we own and shape African scholarship.
This is just the beginning of The Afrocentric Agenda. πŸŒπŸ“š

For centuries, African history has been told through the lens of the coloniser. It is time for the lion to speak.

This powerful truth is the driving force behind our upcoming SABO event series: The Afrocentric Agenda. Join us as we explore "What it really means to Publish African" by looking at the incredible journey of UJ Press.

We are honoured to host Wikus Van Zyl, UJ Press Director and in a deep-dive conversation with Dr. JJ Klaas, author of the groundbreaking book, Triangle of One Hundred Years Wars.

Dr. Klaas’s work is the lion's roar. It challenges distorted colonial narratives by offering a riveting South African historiography told entirely through an endogenous, native lens. Chronicling the protracted wars of resistance fought by the amaXhosa in the Eastern Cape, the book honours their visionary leadership, corrects historical fallacies, and reclaims the truth of those who fought to defend their land.

When we publish African, we don't just print books; we take back the pen and shift the narrative.
