Spring week. New season energy.

Here’s my challenge for you — wherever you are in SA:

Do ONE shop local swap this week.

Instead of the big chain, choose the local who:
Knows your order.
Remembers your size.
Answers their own DMs.

You don’t have to change where you shop for everything. Just one swap.

☀️ 5kVA vs 8kVA: What Runs What?

Choosing a solar system isn't just about picking the bigger number. It's about understanding what your household actually needs to run, especially at the same time.

A 5kVA inverter can be a great fit for a household focused on essentials. Think:

💡 Lights
📺 TV
❄️ Fridge/freezer
📶 WiFi
💻 Laptops and chargers
☕ Kettle, when other heavy loads are managed

An 8kVA inverter gives you considerably more breathing room. Along with your everyday essentials, it can better accommodate combinations of higher-demand appliances such as:

🍳 Microwave
🧺 Washing machine
🍽️ Dishwasher
☕ Kettle
👔 Iron
🔌 More plugs and appliances running together

🚿 But what about the geyser?

This is where system design matters.

A typical electric geyser can draw around 2kW to 4kW on its own. A kettle can add another roughly 2kW, so simply switching on the kettle while the geyser is heating can suddenly create a substantial load.

That's why we don't recommend solar based on inverter size alone.

We look at what you use, when you use it, how much power it draws, your battery capacity and your solar generation before recommending the right setup.

A 5kVA system might be perfect for one family, while another genuinely needs 8kVA or more.

Don't buy bigger because you think you should. Don't buy smaller just because it's cheaper. Buy the system that matches your life.
