The trick behind making a design look completely effortless is spending a tireless amount of time moving elements a pixel to the left or right and seeing what looks best 😜

Her most recent artworks are focused around clouds and in many of her artworks she incorporates a lot of blues, turquoise and teals so we felt it best to have her brand and logo also reflect this. As an accent colour, we chose a burnt sienna, a goldish hue that further embodies the illuminating and uplifting concepts that are voiced in her artworks✨

I like to have a type of 'recipe' when I'm working on a website design. Something I can always refer back to and check that I'm still on track with keeping the visual communication at the forefront of the design. Other than the actual goal of the website, these are my top 5 go-tos when it comes to enforcing good visual hierarchy on a website's design: simplicity, white space, colour, typography and contrast🤓

What are your 5 favourite design principles when working with websites? Do you also have a type of 'recipe' you work from?

I've been experimenting a little with product photography. It seems to satisfy both my creative and introverted side 😜 I've especially enjoyed food photography, to create visuals that make one's mouth water 😎
I remember in grade 9 I took an aptitude test and they told me I needed to study something in the field of design. The only other field that could also perhaps interest me is the culinary industry, however, I didn't have any interest in science so they recommended I rather focus on the design side. For my final year in design at university, we could choose what our thesis will be based on. Only in hindsight did I realize that the aptitude test was so incredibly spot on! I ended up designing a cookbook that utilized weeds as the focus of the ingredients for the recipes.

Whenever I bring food into my creative projects I always think back to that. Life has a way of taking you where you need to go.

Recent logo design project for artist Cecile Walters✨
She wanted a logo that could easily be embossed onto some of her final art pieces. This also meant that she wanted it to look like a type of signature, seal, or stamp that could represent her art on all platforms in all formswalters

Throwback to one of the first WordPress projects I worked on. The Backyard Farmer is an independent farmer who specializes in the production and distribution of microgreens. They recently made the move to Western Cape and have started building a space to grow the microgreens. Follow their journey here: .farmer

The website design is simple and elegant while keeping the target audience of suppliers in mind. It provides a space for Jason to post where his products are sold and a space for shops to purchase microgreens wholesale.

A couple of months ago I worked on a website design for Cecile with Love and Light. For the logo design, which was designed by , we drew on the functions of the website and the services provided by Cecile: health products, face yoga, pilates and Nia classes. The aim of the logo design was to create something influenced by natural elements (specifically the heaven lily), a holistic lifestyle while incorporating a sense of movement and energy 🌷✨

Quick little A-frame design for North Coffee ☕️😁

Print design versus digital design is rather different. The first major difference is colour format: digital designs are exported in RGB and print designs are exported in CMYK. If the colour values are not exported correctly it could really ruin the design... I speak from experience 🧐

The other big thing is making sure the design is big enough to be seen as is. This is super important because people won't be able to zoom in so good information hierarchy is essential.

Back to some digital design work behind the laptop, enjoy your Tuesday everyone!
