There’s something really special about coming back to the basics.

Lately I’ve been working on a set of illustrations for a client, and it’s reminded me just how much joy there is in slowing down and creating with my hands again. After spending so long in a more corporate space, where creativity often had boundaries, this feels like a breath of fresh air.

To now have the freedom to explore, experiment, and create work like this — and to call it my job — is a real ‘pinch me’ moment. It’s these quiet, in-between moments of creating that remind me exactly why I made the jump back to working for myself.

2026 vs 2016

Salted Studio started as a dream — one shaped by a love for creativity, and the desire to build something of my own. Back then, I had passion and instinct… but not yet the depth of understanding that only time, experience, and real life can give.

Over the years, I stepped back into the industry — to learn, to grow, to refine. To understand not just how to make things look beautiful, but how to build brands with meaning, strategy, and longevity. I learnt how to listen better, think deeper, and create with intention.

And somewhere along the way, life shifted too. I became a Mamma. My priorities changed. My pace softened. And my definition of success became something far more grounded — something that holds both purpose and presence.

Now, in 2026, Salted Studio feels different. Stronger. Clearer. More aligned.

This season isn’t about rushing or proving — it’s about building something sustainable, meaningful, and deeply considered. It’s about creating work I’m proud of, while also creating space for my family and the life I want to live.

Sometimes growth looks like pushing forward.
And sometimes, it looks like stepping back… so you can return with clarity.

Some time ago I had the joy of helping give The Biscuitry a gentle logo and packaging refresh. The goal was to keep the heart of the brand while refining the visuals so everything felt a little more cohesive, thoughtful and timeless.

We’ve been working on a new brand that hits close to home, Little Movers is launching new baby classes for all the Mammas in the Stellenbosch area!

Little Movers offers baby stimulation classes for babies from 6 weeks to 18 months. Each class is thoughtfully designed to support your baby’s development through fun, age-appropriate activities that meet them exactly where they are.

Her sessions give babies the opportunity to practice their current milestones, gently prepare for the next ones, and be stimulated on multiple levels through purposeful play.

But Little Movers is about more than development. It’s also about connection — creating a beautiful space for moms to bond with their babies while building a supportive community with others in the same season of life.

New season, same heart — creating with intention.

The light feels different, and there’s inspiration in the air. After a few years of change and growth (and babies), we’ve taken a leap of faith and awill be returning to Salted Studio full time. From next week, we’ll be back in the studio doing what we love most — creating thoughtful, meaningful brands with care.

A shell is a place of protection and care. It forms gently over time — just like a brand, a business, or a creative idea finding its voice. It reminds us of growth, patience, and creating something meaningful with intention.
