Travel Talk Show
The evening of September 24, 2026, in Franschhoek unfolded with an unexpected, yet delightful dinner invitation from my cousin Liezel Morkel and her boyfriend Glen, which I eagerly accepted. We found ourselves in a renowned restaurant on Hugenote Street, starting with refreshing La Vie sparkling water as we examined the enticing menu. Although initially drawn to the rack of lamb, we ultimately opted for the Heritage Barbeque at Franks Corner, a choice that proved to be a culinary triumph.
Our feast featured ribeye on the bone accompanied by salads and a pumpkin tarte tatin, followed by a decadent malva pudding with ice cream and custard, all perfectly paired with handcrafted b**r. Amidst the lively atmosphere, Liezel and Glen recounted tales of their South African travels, praising exceptional service while also noting some unexpected shortcomings like malfunctioning restrooms and uncomfortable beds, highlighting the importance of reliable accommodation. As the evening waned, we enjoyed a leisurely stroll through Franschhoek, immersed in the town's vibrant energy and reaffirming its status as the food and w**e capital of the Western Cape. Until next time, here's to more adventures and unforgettable meals in this enchanting corner of South Africa.
