Cederberg, Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve — Stop #3.

A Hut Suite, no Wi‑Fi, no signal … unless you count the fourth rock to the right, where one bar appears if you stand very still.
Honestly, it was perfect.
This place gave me exactly what an off‑duty creative forgets they need: quiet, space and a full reset. Long walks between red rocks, Bushman paintings tucked into cliff faces, wildlife drifting past like they own the place (they do) and hours to read, think, breathe and take photographs without a single notification breaking the spell.
It’s astonishing how much peace you find when the world can’t reach you and how quickly your mind settles when the landscape does all the talking.
A place to rest, re‑set and remember what stillness feels like.

Paternoster — stop #2.
I’ve driven the N7 more times than I can count - Namibia‑born at heart - but somehow I’d never made it here. Lamberts Bay, Elands Bay, even the Doring River… yes. Paternoster? Never. And now I’m wondering what on earth took me so long.
And wow, it sure is beautiful, giant boulders casually scattered along the coastline like someone got carried away with the décor, the crowds have gone home, the streets are quiet and it’s incredibly peaceful. Long walks on the beach with the wind in my hair and sun on my face is exactly what I needed. And I found the sweetest little cottage near the beach; cozy, warm ... just perfect!
A few days here to breathe, reset and find my focus.

Bamboo Cottage, Riebeek‑Kasteel — stop #1.
Spotless, calm, safe, beautifully kept… and the hot water deserves its own fan club. Karin is warm, kind and an absolutely delightful host.
Both times I’ve arrived in Riebeek‑Kasteel, it’s been in a full rainstorm, so the real reveal only happens the next morning. And honestly? Worth the wait. A beautiful little town with tree‑lined streets, friendly faces and superb restaurants.
And yes, even on a “break” my laptop pops open. I work most days, but I’m also soaking up every minute of the places, people and experiences along the way.
Keeping my balance… or something close to it.
For me, it was the perfect start.

Working with local small businesses is one of the greatest joys of what I do. Every day I get to witness people pouring their whole hearts into their dreams; showing up, creating, building and uplifting the town we all call home.
Today I want to celebrate Gerda Uren, who just marked two years of Gforce Security Swellendam. She’s a powerhouse of a woman: a hardworking single mom, fiercely dedicated to safeguarding her community and an inspiration to anyone lucky enough to cross her path. I respect her tremendously for the courage, grit and heart she brings to everything she does.
Here’s to the people who make Swellendam shine; the doers, the dreamers, the builders. It’s an honour to walk alongside you.
