Watch What You Order
Last Friday I had coffee with someone who had a dark cloud hanging over his head. Actually… he was the storm himself. As president of the “I Can’t” club, his words played like a broken record:
“I CAN’T. I DON’T HAVE MONEY. I’M TIRED. I’M SICK.”
I looked at him and realised: this is his reality, not because life dealt him a bad hand, but because he orders it every single day, like a customer at a restaurant:
“Waiter, sorry, can I please have the Big Plate of Misery, with extra self pity sauce?”
Little did he know, he wrote the menu himself.
We underestimate the power of our words. Your words aren’t just air they are seeds. Plant them and watch them grow. Your words become your thoughts. Your thoughts become your habits. Your habits become your destination. It’s a chain reaction that doesn’t stop, whether you want it to or not. (Yes, yes… sounds like an Instagram post.)
Take the story of the guy who always said he was poor and that money wasn’t his friend. Pieter woke up every morning and declared:
“I’m poor, money isn’t my friend money doesn’t want to play with me.”
He repeated it everywhere: at work, to friends, even in his prayers. As a result, he missed every opportunity for wealth a new job, business ideas, even a lottery ticket he brushed off, because “money doesn’t like me.” Year after year he stayed poor, trapped in his own words, while friends flourished. A self fulfilling prophecy: money didn’t come, because he chased it away with his tongue like a terrible host.
When you say “I’m tired,” you give your brain a direct command. Your brain, that loyal assistant, doesn’t ask questions. It switches off the lights and tells your body:
“Time to rest, guys! The boss wants to lie down. Cut the energy!”
Suddenly you feel even more tired, because you invited it in yourself.
Same with “I’m sick.” Your immune system is a massive army, ready to fight. But those words send them on holiday:
“Relax, men. The boss has already surrendered.”
Your body obeys, and the illness takes over.
Henry Ford said it perfectly:
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t you’re right.”
Choose your side. Change the order! Start saying:
“I CAN! I’M GOING TO DO THIS! I’M FULL OF ENERGY!”
Your brain wakes up like a general in a great battle. He grabs the microphone and roars:
“Troops, get up! The boss says we’re winners! Pump the endorphins, open the power valves, and let’s conquer the world!”
Suddenly you discover energy reserves you didn’t even know existed. Your body moves forward, your thoughts feel lighter, and your life starts to change.
I know, some people will say: “But reality is reality. Facts are facts.”
My answer? If you believe that, then it is so. But why not create your reality? Even if you have to lie to your brain to get started. Because a small lie for a big victory is worth it.
Here’s something I maybe shouldn’t admit… but I start my day like this: I look in the mirror and say, “Morning, handsome!”
Is it true? Maybe. Maybe not. But my brain believes it, my shoulders pull back immediately, and I walk out with fire in my chest. It’s the difference between an ordinary day and a day like yesterday.
Please remember this: your body follows where your thoughts lead. Stop speaking negative things over yourself.
Try this today… when “I CAN’T” comes up, add one word:
“I CAN’T YET.”
Or better still:
“I CAN.”
You are the architect of your life. Order the feast of success, not the crumbs of defeat. Start now and watch how the universe conspires to make your dream real. You are stronger than you think. Go forward, and shine.
