This Women's Day I'm taking a moment to recognise & appreciate an achievement. Grateful for the support of the cheerleaders that encouraged & believed in me, especially when I was too weak to believe in myself.
Just over 2.5 years ago I found myself at a crossroads. Frazzled from a corporate world where I had grown and thrived but eventually burnt myself out, somedays barely recognisable to those I know & love. It was time for change, do or die as they say.
After taking a month or two to reinvigrate, I picked myself up & began a frightening but liberating journey. Scoop Communications was born from bare bones, 16 years of solid PR experience, a burning passion for the industry & an insatiable hunger to succeed, not only for myself but for the wellbeing of my family.
Almost three years later its grown to support & consult some of SAs leading brands & organisations. By its grit, I'm blessed that somehow its making it through a lockdown & a harsh economic environment.
I celebrate this women's day with the first piece I've had placed in the iconic Mail & Guardian for Afrika Tikkun by Alef Meulenberg. Yes, we are the change makers, believe in your dreams & in yourself today & everyday.

OPINION: The truth is the economy still largely revolves around men, especially white men like me, writes Alef Meulenberg.
