She works at the one famous store here. Fairly dark, tall, and pretty, I must say. Over time, she keeps giving me this offer, but Iโve always said NO!!!
Well, let me take you back a little.
So, kumwesu ku Kawambwa, we have this famous store and, as you can imagine, itโs usually with people buying a couple of things because they stock quite the catchy variety.
Like everyone else, sometimes, I stop by there for my essentials.
Repeatedly though, thereโs this fine lady who always serves with a smile. By the way, have you noticed how big stores usually have very pretty smiling ladies? I must add, good-looking men too (No Homo๐). Maybe itโs a marketing strategyโฆ but thatโs besides the point.
Sheโs always very committed to making me get a Plastic Bag after purchasing something.
โShould I add a plastic?โ she always asks.
Now hereโs the thingโฆ
Refusal can do us a lot of good when it comes to this Plastic Pollution affecting many places today.
Most of the time, probably half of the 20 times Iโve bought things in that store among others, I Refuse the plastic bag offer and instead use my backpack, my pockets, or simply carry the items in my hands to wherever Iโm going.
Small action, yes. But it reduces the plastics that eventually end up in our streets and drainage systems. Imagine if we all did it.
This write-up isnโt really about how beautiful she is or how good she is at her job (although she genuinely is). Itโs about making sure we donโt take everything simply because itโs available or offered to us.
Sometimes, the best thing you can do is refuse ๐ซท๐พ and choose a more sustainable option instead.
Be environmentally smart๐๐
