TASILA LUNGU GRANTED PERMISSION TO COMMENCE JUDICIAL REVIEW PROCEEDINGS AGAINST ATTORNEY GENERAL.

The Lusaka High Court has granted permission to former President Edgar Lungu’s daughter, Tasila Lungu, to commence judicial review proceedings against Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha and Speaker of the National Assembly Nelly Mutti over the decision to declare the Chawama parliamentary seat vacant on November 28, 2025.

In its ruling, the Court said Ms. Lungu has presented sufficient grounds to warrant judicial review, noting that the matter raises serious legal issues that require further examination.

The Court further ruled that Ms. Lungu has demonstrated that there is a case that is fit for further investigation.

Judge Sharon Kaunda Newa, has accordingly granted leave to Ms. Lungu to commence Judicial Review proceedings.

Judge Newa stated that the by-election for Chawama Constituency having taken place, the application to stay ex*****on of the decision of the Speaker of the National Assembly has been overtaken.

Police have apprehended Grace Njapau, the young woman seen in videos of a mob attack wearing a black-and-white (zebra-striped) dress.

She was apprehended on March 23, 2026, around 19:00 hrs in Mwinilunga District and remains in custody.

Investigations are ongoing, and further arrests are expected.
