Charity ‎Banda Explodes In Tears Screaming"Umulopa Wakama Ine Mayo"

I apologise profusely for sounding insensitive over Kafwaya's death - Charity

‎UPND sympathiser Charity Banda has apologised to the late former minister Mutotwe Kafwaya's family for having sounded insensitive and doubted his death.
‎
‎In an audio that has gone viral, Banda has been heard having doubted Kafwaya's death when NRPUP presidential candidate Brian Mundubile disclosed the death to the public.
‎
‎She said there was no truth in what Mundubile was saying as people could easily tell when a human being had died, as opposed to how casually the matter was being handled as if it was a dog that had died.
‎
‎Banda said even the manner Kafwaya's wife went about asking about the matter in the media was as if nothing had happened.
‎
‎However, Banda said she profusely apologised to the family of Kafwaya now that the matter had been confirmed by the government, reports Daily Revelation newspaper.

REFUTING CLAIMS OF PATRICK MWANSA'S DEATH IN POLICE CUSTODY

August 21, 2026 - The Zambia Police Service has noted with concern claims circulating on various social media platforms alleging that a detained suspect, identified as Patrick Mwansa, has died while in police custody.

The Zambia Police Service wishes to state that these claims are false and misleading.

Mr. Mwansa is alive and in good health. His family has also been visiting him, with access being granted in accordance with established procedures.

The Zambia Police Service strongly condemns the circulation and dissemination of unverified information, particularly information that has the potential to cause unnecessary public panic, anxiety, and distress to the affected family and the wider community.

Members of the public, social media users, and news bloggers are therefore urged to refrain from sharing or disseminating unverified information.

The public is encouraged to rely on official communication from the Zambia Police Service for accurate and verified updates.

The Zambia Police Service remains committed to upholding the rights, dignity, safety, and welfare of all persons in its custody, in accordance with the law and established procedures.

POLICE SUMMONS MUNDUBILE, MAKEBI ZULU OVER NATIONAL SECURITY INVESTIGATIONS

The Zambia Police Service, working jointly with other law enforcement agencies, has summoned former presidential candidate Brian Mundubile and lawyer Makebi Zulu for questioning over alleged links to a number of crimes and activities under investigation.

Police Inspector General Graphel Musamba says the investigations, which have been ongoing for several years, are focused on serious national security threats, including alleged activities with the potential to threaten or undermine national security.

According to Mr Musamba, official call-outs have been served on the duo’s lawyers, with police expressing hope that they will appear on the specified dates.

The Police says it is aware of the duo’s location after they reportedly sought refuge under international law with a known international organisation, and has assured that they are entitled to due process and the protection of their fundamental human rights.

The Police has also warned that other individuals may be summoned as persons of interest, urging members of the public to cooperate with lawful investigations.

Authorities have further disclosed that they are actively investigating alleged crimes of terrorism and terrorist financing, while warning against harbouring, assisting or financing persons considered to be persons of interest or wanted by the Police.

Police have called on the public to report suspicious activities and remain law-abiding, saying proportionate measures will be taken against anyone who resists lawful police requests through threats, violence or attacks on law enforcement officers.
