Day 5: not all seeds have germinated-and that’s the lesson. 🌱

Some people spend so much time comparing their lives and blessings to others, forgetting that even seeds planted in the same tray don’t sprout at the same time.

Some break through early, some need longer beneath the soil, and some are still preparing for their moment.

The seed isn’t failing just because it hasn’t surfaced yet.

God’s timing is different for each of us-your season will come. Protect your soil, stay rooted, and trust the process.

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” -Ecclesiastes 3:1

Hope Network was honored to attend today’s golf event in support of men’s breast cancer awareness, a global cause that deserves greater attention and continued advocacy.

Our participation reflects Hope Network’s commitment to supporting important conversations that impact communities beyond our immediate programs. Men’s breast cancer is often overlooked, and events like this help raise awareness, encourage early detection, and promote open dialogue around men’s health.

We believe leadership also means showing up for causes that matter-standing alongside others to support awareness, education, and collective action toward healthier communities.

Attending spaces like these also creates opportunities for meaningful connection, partnership, and shared learning, all of which strengthen our broader mission of building informed, resilient, and empowered communities.

We are grateful to have been part of an event that combined advocacy, engagement, and purpose.

On this field, leadership is being born.
At Hope Network, we believe grassroots communities hold some of the world’s greatest hidden talent-young people waiting for opportunity, guidance, and someone to believe in them.

Today marked the beginning of our mission to train and mentor 50 Lusaka youths through sport, using soccer to build discipline, confidence, and future leaders.

This is bigger than football.
This is how we change communities.
This is how we shift the globe. ⚽️

Leadership begins long before the spotlight-it begins at the grassroots.

As an expansion of the Hope Network Community Garden Program, today we officially introduced the Hope Network Sports Program-vision: to raise a generation of disciplined, confident, and purpose-driven young leaders through sport.

What may look like a simple training session on a dusty field is, for us, the foundation of something much greater. Here, leadership is being planted. Character is being shaped. Futures are being rewritten.

Too often, grassroots communities carry hidden talent-untapped potential waiting only for opportunity, guidance, and belief. Some of the world’s greatest leaders, athletes, and changemakers are found in places many overlook. We believe that buried within our local communities are young people with extraordinary gifts, waiting to be discovered, nurtured, and given a platform to rise.

Our mission is to train and mentor 50 local youths in Lusaka in sports discipline through soccer-but our goal reaches far beyond the game. Through sport, we are teaching leadership, responsibility, teamwork, resilience, and self-belief.

Because true leadership starts when a young person learns to show up, stay disciplined, trust their team, and rise after every fall. These are the values that shape not only better athletes-but stronger leaders for our homes, our communities, and our nation.

At Hope Network, we are not just preparing children to compete on a field.
We are uncovering hidden talent.
We are raising leaders from the grassroots.
We are building futures that will shift the globe.

Today was an introduction.
Tomorrow, it becomes a movement.
And one day, the world will feel the impact of what started here. ⚽️

We are not just raising players.
We are raising leaders.
We are raising hope.

More and more young ones are now choosing to spend their time here -learning, playing, helping, and engaging in positive activities instead of being exposed to the streets. Through gardening, mentorship, conversations and sport, we are seeing young minds become more active, disciplined, and hopeful about their future.

Every chair filled around this table is a reminder that community matters, guidance matters, and giving young people a place to belong can truly change lives. 💙

Today at the Hope Network Community Garden, we conducted a practical seed propagation session with children, focusing on the use of seed trays as an introduction to sustainable food production and climate-smart gardening practices. The participants demonstrated exceptional levels of curiosity, engagement, and willingness to learn throughout the activity.

What stood out most was not only their ability to quickly grasp the practical concepts, but also the enthusiasm with which they participated. This level of interest continues to reaffirm the importance of creating early exposure to hands-on learning environments within underserved communities.

Following the training session, we facilitated a reflective discussion with the children centered on their personal interests, aspirations, and future ambitions. These conversations are a critical part of our youth empowerment model at Hope Network -ensuring that beyond practical skills, young people are also given safe spaces to express themselves, build confidence, and develop a sense of purpose.

At Hope Network, we remain committed to nurturing both livelihoods and leadership by combining environmental education, mentorship, and community-based youth development initiatives

Expanding Hope Through Sport and Skills

In line with Hope Network’s mission to deliver holistic youth development, we are pleased to introduce soccer as an extension of our existing gardening program.

This initiative is designed to complement practical life skills with structured physical activity, reflecting a growing global shift toward practical, hands-on approaches to addressing real-world challenges. Across the world, there is increasing recognition that solutions must move beyond theory and focus on practical, measurable impact-especially in youth development, education, and community resilience.

By introducing young people to soccer at an early stage, we are intentionally investing in a practical tool for development. Sport provides lived experience-it teaches discipline through participation, teamwork through action, and resilience through real situations. These are not abstract lessons; they are skills formed through doing.

In the same way, our gardening program equips young people with practical agricultural skills, responsibility, and sustainability awareness. Together, these two components create a grounded and relevant model of development that responds to today’s pressing social and economic realities.

The integration of sport creates a balanced approach: nurturing both the hands that grow and the minds that lead. It also provides a safe and inclusive space where young people can channel their energy positively, build social connections, and develop a strong sense of purpose through action, not theory.

Through this expansion, Hope Network continues to align with a practical development approach-equipping young people not only with knowledge, but with skills that respond to real-life challenges and opportunities.

This is how we grow hope-intentionally, practically, and sustainably. ⚽💚🌱
