How Makebi Zulu’s amateurism was all laid bare for all to see in a South African Court:

β€œLungu’s Will”

Pretoria High Courtroom;
The atmosphere is tense. Wooden benches creak under the weight of anticipation. The judge sits high above. Lawyers pace. The public gallery is full.

JUDGE THANDI:
(Firmly, tapping gavel)
This court will now resume proceedings in the matter of the repatriation of the late President Edgar Lungu’s remains.

(Lawyer Mbatha rises, cool and composed.)

LAWYER MBATHA:
Your Honour, I’d like to redirect the witnessβ€”Mr. Makebi Zulu.

(Makebi Zulu, a seasoned but visibly uneasy figure, adjusts his tie and steps forward.)

LAWYER MBATHA:
Mr. Zulu, earlier you statedβ€”on recordβ€”that President Lungu gave specific instructions about what should happen in the event of his death. Is that correct?

MAKEBI ZULU:
Yes. He told us… explicitly… that if he died, no Zambian government plane should be used to transport his body. He said he wanted to be flown back in a private jet.

(Gasps from the gallery. Quiet whispers.)

LAWYER MBATHA (stepping closer):
So, to be clearβ€”you’re confirming that President Lungu never intended to be buried in South Africa?

MAKEBI ZULU (hesitating, then nodding):
That’s correct.

(The courtroom stirs. The judge glances over the rim of her glasses.)

LAWYER MBATHA (voice rising):
Then tell this court, Mr. Zuluβ€”if you know what the man wanted… why are you standing in the way of fulfilling his final wish?

(Murmurs swell. The judge bangs the gavel.)

JUDGE THANDI:
Order! There will be order in this court!

LAWYER MBATHA (softening, but with edge):
Mr. Zulu… did President Lungu know he was coming here to die? Was he issuing his last will… or were these precautionary wordsβ€”words you now use to block the repatriation of his body?

(A long pause. Makebi swallows hard. The courtroom falls into a heavy silence.)

JUDGE THANDI (after a beat):
Mr. Zulu, you may answer the question.

MAKEBI ZULU (quietly):
I… I don’t believe he thought he would die here. No.

(The courtroom watches. The moment hangs.)

Yo-Maps takes Mwizukanji to court over their daughter Bukata !

Zambian singer Elton Mulenga, popularly known as Yo Maps, has applied to the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court seeking primary custody of his daughter, Bukata.

He told the court that he would be more than willing to raise her in the same way he and his wife, Kiddist Kiffle, are raising her half-sister at home, as he has consistently taken responsibility for Bukata’s well-being.

Yo Maps stated that on several occasions, he has asked to spend time with his daughter , whether during holidays, weekends, or events but Prudence Nakamba, also known as Mwizukanji, has repeatedly refused without giving any valid reason.

Mr. Mulenga has submitted WhatsApp conversations as evidence to support his claim.

Meanwhile, his wife, Kiddist Kiffle, told the court that he has been a responsible father, adding that she assists him in ensuring that all maintenance payments, school fees, and other expenses related to the child are settled on time.

A STUDENT has been sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment with hard labour for stealing 13 computers and other electronics worth over K200,000 at the University of Zambia (UNZA).

The electronics were stolen from the School of Natural Sciences, which provides a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various scientific fields.

Before jailing Felcious Mukwemba, 29, of Kalingalinga Township, Lusaka magistrate Amy Masoja-Chilangwa said the convict needed to be punished for his actions, which gravely affected operations of the university.

The magistrate said the convict not only deprived the school of the stolen assets but the important education material contained therein.

β€œThe items [in the gadgets] may never be recovered…”

The magistrate earlier asked if the convict was a student at the school during the time of the theft, to which he admitted.

β€œInstead of extracting knowledge, you went to extract school property thefts?” the adjudicator queried the seemingly crestfallen Mukwemba.

A 25-year-old woman has allegedly been murdered by her husband in Nakonde, Muchinga Province, just two months after their marriage.

The suspect, identified as EZEKIEL LINGIWE PETI, aged 43 and of Tanzanian nationality, is currently on the run.

The incident occurred on July 26, 2025, around 20:00 hours, in Chiyanga Village, within the jurisdiction of Chieftainess WAITWIKA.

Muchinga Province Police Commanding Officer, DENNIS MOOLA, has confirmed the murder and identified the deceased as JESSICA NAKAMBA.

Mr. MOOLA explained that on the day in question, NAKAMBA was severely beaten by PETI, who then fled their home.

He added that when NAKAMBA’s family was informed of the assault, they went to check on her but sadly found her dead.

Mr. MOOLA stated that NAKAMBA sustained a deep cut at the back of her head and had bruises on both sides of her ribs, indicating that a sharp object may have been used.
