Zambiaโs economic conversation is shifting from stabilisation towards industrial production, value addition, exports, energy capacity and private sector growth.
The latest indicators reveal the scale of the opportunity:
โข Manufacturing accounted for approximately 38.5% of actualised ZDA investment between 2021 and June 2026.
โข The sector generated more than 46,000 jobs and contributes approximately 9.3% of GDP.
โข A planned US$450 million, 450 MW power project in Ndola signals continued investment interest in addressing Zambiaโs energy constraints.
โข Zambia recorded a K4.1 billion trade surplus in July 2026.
โข The countryโs maize harvest is projected at approximately 4.94 million metric tonnes.
These figures cover different sectors, but they point to one central opportunity:

Investment announcements are important, but productive growth will be measured by operating factories, reliable electricity, stronger local suppliers, competitive Zambian products and businesses that can access regional and international markets.
For companies, this creates a responsibility to communicate more than what they produce. They must demonstrate how their investments support employment, skills development, local procurement, supplier growth, exports and economic resilience.
As Zambia works towards Vision 2030, the next phase should not only be about attracting capital.
It should be about converting capital into industries and industries into lasting national value.
