“I’M DISAPPOINTED, BUT I STILL BELIEVE IN YOU” — MACKY 2 SPEAKS AFTER FRANK RO’S EXIT FROM OLIJABA ENTERTAINMENT

The music industry has been left talking after singer Frank Ro officially announced his departure from Olijaba Entertainment, the record label owned by Zambian music icon Macky 2.

In a heartfelt statement, Frank Ro described his time at Olijaba as a life-changing chapter filled with growth, lessons and unforgettable memories. He thanked the label for believing in his vision and announced that he would now continue his journey as an independent artist.
But behind the words of gratitude, the emotional exit has opened a bigger conversation about loyalty, contracts and the relationship between artists and record labels.
Responding to the announcement, Macky 2 admitted that the news came with disappointment.
“Mwaiche wandi Frank Ro music… I think I would be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed,” Macky 2 said.

The Olijaba boss explained that the issue was not personal, but about respecting the music business and the sacrifices that come with building an artist’s career.
According to Macky 2, Olijaba was more than just a label — it was a business entity that invested time, resources and belief into Frank Ro’s talent.
He warned that the industry must move beyond emotions and understand the importance of professional relationships between artists and the teams that support them.

The legendary artist also said he expected more loyalty, not because he needed it, but because upcoming artists watching such moves need to understand that success in music is built on a two-way relationship.
Despite the disappointment, Macky 2 made it clear that there is no bad blood, saying he still believes in Frank Ro’s talent and wished him success in his new journey.

As Frank Ro begins his independent era, the big question remains: Was this simply a natural career move, or a sign of the growing tension between artists seeking freedom and labels seeking commitment?
The next chapter of Frank Ro’s career has officially begun.

FROM “REZA” KING TO COURTROOM DRAMA — BRAMO’S COMEBACK JOURNEY TAKES ANOTHER TURN

Just when Abraham Zika, popularly known as Bramo, appeared to be rebuilding his life, reviving his music career, and trying to move past his previous legal troubles, the Matero-born artist has once again found himself making headlines.

The man behind the street phrase “Reza” — a term that became widely associated with threatening or confronting someone — is now facing a fresh legal battle after allegations that he threatened his mother while allegedly armed with a machete.

The 29-year-old is currently in police custody awaiting a bail ruling, with the State opposing his release while his lawyers maintain that he qualifies for bail as he awaits trial.

Bramo’s journey has been a mix of fame, controversy, and attempts at a fresh start. After gaining popularity through social media and music, he has continued to attract public attention both for his talent and his challenges away from the spotlight.

From viral street fame to courtroom headlines, the public now waits to see what comes next in the latest chapter of King Bramo’s story.

FROM THE CAMPAIGN ANTHEM TO THE BILLING LIST: WHO IS REALLY EATING THE CAKE?

Amid the growing debate over which artists are being booked, paid, or left out of UPND and government events, one question continues to spark conversation: who is truly benefiting from the political music wave?
Mizzy C, the young Zambian artist behind the “Salt Sana” movement, created a phrase that went beyond music — becoming one of the most recognised political-cultural sounds around the 2026 campaign period.

But as the entertainment industry debates who is getting the biggest opportunities, another reality emerges: a viral slogan can open doors, but a strong brand is what keeps them open.

An artist’s name can reach high places, be mentioned among powerful people, and shape conversations — yet the financial rewards may depend on how well they have invested in their craft, image, team, and business side of music.
The “Salt Sana” story is not only about one song; it is a lesson about turning a moment into a movement, and turning a movement into a lasting career.

Because in music, making history with a hit is one thing… owning the value that comes after is the real game.

MUSIC IS BUSINESS, NOT JUST POLITICS ARTISTS SHOW UP WHERE THE WORK IS.

When you understand that music is a business just like any other profession, the picture becomes clearer. An artist offers a service, performs, entertains, and gets paid , just like any other person providing a service.

As Slap Dee once highlighted through his music, debates around artists and politics often raise questions about survival, opportunities and personal choices. For many musicians, a stage is a workplace, not necessarily a declaration of political loyalty.

Some musicians today
performed at a United Party for National Development rally addressed by Hakainde Hichilema in Choma, Southern Province.

The bigger conversation remains: should an artist be judged by where they perform, or should society recognise entertainment as a profession where artists also have bills to pay?

HISTORY REPEATING ITSELF IN ZAMBIA’S MUSIC SPACE: WHEN POLITICS MEETS ENTERTAINMENT

The debate over whether music should be separated from politics appears to be repeating itself in Zambia’s entertainment industry. Artists continue to struggle to convince the public and political players that music is a profession and a business that should transcend political affiliation.

For over 23 years, the duo Orga Family were reportedly sidelined from performing at state functions during a previous political era, a situation that sparked debate about artistic freedom and the treatment of musicians

Now, the conversation has resurfaced, with allegations that artists including Rich Bizzy, Chester and others have been barred from performing at government events for as long as the United Party for National Development remains in power. The claims have reignited questions about whether artists should be judged by their music or by the political platforms they associate with.

As history appears to repeat itself, the bigger question remains: Should a musician’s career opportunities depend on political affiliation, or should music remain a space where talent, creativity and professionalism come first?

RICHY BIZZY SPEAKS OUT:
“MY TALENT SHOULD NOT HAVE A POLITICAL LABEL”

Musician Richy Bizzy has raised concerns following the cancellation of his performances at government programmes, including the Serenje Agriculture & Commercial Show and Nkeyema Agriculture & Commercial Show, allegedly because he previously performed at an opposition political rally.

In his statement, the artist argues that musicians should be given equal opportunities regardless of their political affiliations, stating that performing is part of their profession and a source of livelihood for themselves and their families.
“Music is my profession. My role as an artist is to entertain, inspire and communicate through music — not to create division,” he said.

Richy Bizzy questioned why some musicians who perform at political events continue receiving opportunities while others appear to face restrictions based on where they have performed.

He emphasized that his music remains respectful and does not promote hatred or attack individuals, adding that artists should not be denied opportunities for exercising their freedom of expression or earning an honest living.
“Music should unite people, not become a reason for discrimination.
Opportunities should be based on talent, professionalism and conduct — not political affiliation,” he stated.

The musician has called for fairness, tolerance and equal treatment for all artists, arguing that a democratic society should allow citizens, including creatives, to participate freely regardless of differing political views.
