THE GOLDEN PARTY OF ZAMBIA (GPZ) has promised to ensure that indigenous Zambian companies are given priority in accessing opportunities tied to the country’s resources.

GOLDEN party of Zambia (GPZ) president Jackson Silavwe says under the “RESET VISION”, his party will create more Zambian millionaires and billionaires through increased participation of local businesses in major contracts.

Mr. Silavwe says his party will ensure that both citizens and foreign investors thrive, but stated that indigenous Zambian companies will be prioritised in accessing opportunities tied to the country’s resources.

He outlined several proposed measures, including amending existing laws to favour local contractors and suppliers in large Government and mining sector contracts added that mining sector contracts will be expressly reserved for local indigenous companies as primary contractors, with provisions allowing them to subcontract foreign firms where necessary.

The (GPZ) president who said the policy direction would help keep more money within the country besides stimulating economic expansion to generate employment for both skilled and unskilled citizens, emphasized that empowering local businesses is a sure way of significantly improving living standards besides unlocking the full potential of the indigenous economy.

Mr. Silavwe further hinted the need for stricter protections of public funds by criminalizing the supply of sub-standard goods and services to government, says his party will reset Zambia for economic transformation to benefit all citizens.

UNZA student bags K1 million prize with his grocery delivery app

A 24-year-old electrical engineering student at the University of Zambia (UNZA) has transformed a simple campus inconvenience into a digital business that has now earned him a K1 million prize opportunity on the global stage.

Enock Chisulo, founder of Moteev, an AI-powered grocery delivery app, impressed judges with his innovation in the just ended prestigious 2-Minute Drill competition hosted by renowned entrepreneur David Meltzer.

Growing up, Chisulo was the child who dismantled radios and twisted copper wires into improvised inventions, teaching himself complex problem-solving long before he even set foot at UNZA.

But it was on campus, that Chisulo came up with this breakthrough idea.

Students were tired of spending money on transport and wasting hours in queues, a daily frustration that demanded a modern solution.

Chisulo shared with that it is this reason that he created Moteev, a mobile platform that allows students to buy groceries and have them delivered directly to their hostels.

“In simple terms, if Shoprite and Yango had a baby, that would be Moteev,” he told .

Today, Moteev serves more than 800 users across UNZA, Copperbelt University and Mukuba University and the young founder is already targeting urban markets in Lusaka and the Copperbelt where busy residents would gladly pay for convenience.

In 2025, Chisulo pitched Moteev in the 2-Minute Drill, a global entrepreneurship contest where founders explain their business in just 120 seconds.
