LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION TRIBUNAL UPHOLDS STEPHEN CHIKOTA'S BY-ELECTION VICTORY.

The Local Government Election Tribunal has upheld the election of UPND Stephen Chikota as duly elected Council Chairperson for Mwense Town Council.

This is in a matter in which PF loosing candidate Charles Mwelwa had petitioned the election of Mr. Chikota citing widespread electoral violence and vote buying.

However, the Tribunal did not find substance in the grounds advanced by Mr. Mwelwa.

PAMBASHE LAWMAKER HAPPY WITH CDF PROJECTS WORKS IN HIS CONSTITUENCY.

Pambashe Member of Parliament Ronald Chitotela has commended The Kawambwa Town Council on the good implementation of the Constituency Development Fund projects in his Constituency.

Speaking during the inspection of the Constituency Development Fund projects in Pambashe, Mr. Chitotela expressed satisfaction on the quality of works on the inspected projects adding that this is a clear demonstration of the commitment that the Local Authority attaches to the projects.

Mr. Chitotela emphasized on the need for the Zambian people to be given value for their money by executing quality works on projects , urging the Local Authority not to compromise with quality on the projects.

The Pambashe Lawmaker said once the Local Authority is given funds, enough latitude and capacity they are able to execute the works to the expectations of the people as can be seen with Pambashe Constituency.

He said public servants in rural areas can only be motivated with good infrastructure, quality health centres, good road network and safe drinking water adding that investing in housing for public servants is one of the priorities in 2023 for Pambashe Constituency, as it will modernize the area and attract more qualified personnel to the area.

Mr. Chitotela has urged the local contractors in Kawambwa district to execute the projects with perfection as is the only way they will make government and the public have confidence in them.

Honourable Chitotela further assured the people of Pambashe that with the increment of the 2023 Constituency Development Fund, the Constituency is earmarked for a modern Police station in Mushota and two mini hospitals, one in Chibote in Chief Chamas Chiefdom and the other to be built near Chishinga secondary school to help people in that area that travel all the way to Luwingu to access health

✅Mwansabombwe District

Distribution of farming inputs to the 2,000 small scale farmers on the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) in Mwansabombwe district is progressing well.

District Agriculture Coordinator Rueben Chandwa said so far, all the 6,000 x 50 Kilogramme bags of D – Compound fertilizer allocated to the district have been distributed to the farmers.

Mr. Chandwa also said the distribution of maize seeds and soya beans is at 84 percent while only 1,220 urea fertilizer has been delivered to the district so far.

He said there is high demand for more inputs because a number of farmers have joined cooperatives but that the current allocation only caters for 2,000 farmers who are on FISP.

Mr. Chandwa said those who have collected the inputs have already planted and the crop is doing well.

He however said there is need to urgently deliver Urea fertilizers before the crop is wasted and the roads become impassable due to heavy rains.

And Ignasio Masiye the warehouse manager confirmed to ZANIS that the inputs which were received have already been distributed to the farmers.

Mr. Masiye however said only 1,220 x 50 Kilogramme bags of Urea have been delivered to the district and that over 4,000 x 50 Kilogramme bags are yet to be delivered.

Meanwhile, one of the beneficiary farmers Mervis Chileshe thanked the government for the deliverer of the D – compound fertilizer and seeds.

And Donald Bwalya appealed to the government to quickly deliver Urea fertilizer saying some maize crop is almost due to apply the top dressing fertilizer.
