*Speech for Africa Day 2026*
_By Henry Muzungu, Council Chairperson candidate, Sesheke _

*Theme: Development is Key*

Fellow residents of Sesheke,
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and gentlemen,

Today, on Africa Day, we join the rest of the continent in celebrating our freedom, our identity, and our unity as Africans.

This day reminds us of the courage of those who fought for independence, and it challenges us to honor that legacy through action. For us in Sesheke , the meaning of freedom is simple: it means having the opportunity to build better lives for our families and our communities.

Our theme this year is clear — *Development is Key*.
Freedom without development is incomplete. It is through roads, schools, clinics, clean water, and opportunities for our youth that we make freedom real on the ground.

As your Council chairperson, am committed to work with government, traditional leadership, and every resident to push development forward in Sesheke . Progress does not come overnight, but it comes when we work together with purpose and accountability.

On this Africa Day, let us renew our commitment to unity, hard work, and service. Let us take pride in who we are as Zambians and as Africans, and let us build a Sesheke m that our children will be proud to inherit.

Happy Africa Day to you all.
Let us keep building. Let us keep moving forward.
*Development is Key.*

Thank you.

If you know this story Comment👇
*Chipo and Mainza* were best friends in a Zambian village.

One dry season, a dangerous hippo started attacking people near the river. The villagers were scared to get water.

Mainza wanted to go chase the hippo alone, but Chipo said, “We go together. Friends don’t leave each other.”

At night they went to the river with drums and torches. The hippo charged, and Mainza slipped near the water. Chipo pulled him back just in time, but then she fell in.

Mainza could have run, but he stayed. He threw fire and made loud noise to scare the hippo away. It ran back into the deep river, and both friends were safe.

The village celebrated them, and their story became a lesson: *True friends stick together and sacrifice for each other*.

However, people were so happy to see this great leader and his presence was much appreciated as he interacted with most of the youths and elders.

*Message from Henry Muzungu Incoming Chairperson – Sesheke Under NRPUP party*
Good morning and a blessed Sabbath to you all.

As we come together today, I want to remind us that *love, peace, reconciliation, and unity* are not just words. They are the foundation on which Sesheke will grow and develop.

Sesheke’s progress depends on all of us. No single person can build a community alone. When we choose to forgive, to listen, and to work side by side despite our differences, we create an environment where development can take root.

To every registered voter in Sesheke:
1. *Your voice matters.* Registering was the first step. Now let’s use that voice to choose leaders and a path that puts Sesheke first.
2. *Let’s keep peace at the center.* Elections and politics will come and go, but Sesheke and our relationships remain. Do not let division rob us of what we are building together.
3. *Be part of the solution.* Unity means showing up, speaking respectfully, and holding leaders accountable with dignity.

I step into this role with a commitment to serve all of Sesheke, not just those who agree with me. My door is open, and my priority is to see development reach every corner of our district through reconciliation and shared purpose.

May this Sabbath renew our hearts, and may we move forward as one people, one Sesheke.

Thank you, and God bless Sesheke.
