As I turn a year older today, I want to celebrate my birthday here by a little bit of story telling. This story is a reflection of where I am coming from, where I am right now & where I am going also with a bit of appreciation and inspiration to people who know me and those who don't. As a saying goes leaders/entrepreneurs are not made but born, this statement is true in my regard. Growing up my mother Precious Magama would testify that i always wanted to be a leader and a business man. At a young age i would always tell her that one day i will own a building which will house my companies and my office will be on the top floor and i would have my own penthouse above my office. She would always smile and tell me the sky is the limit my son. This was always inspired by one of our own Nigel M. K. Chanakira when he was the 1st African to break new ground and open a bank in Wall Street ( I stand corrected there) .To make sure this comes to fruition, she planted that seed in me at an early age. I remember around 10 years old she gave me pocket money ( in these times it's equivalent to atleast $10 USD ) and she told me she would like to see me multiply it. I walked a distance of around 7km to 8km ( those who know Mutare from Dangamvura to Gimboki ) to the nearest agro plots and i bought 50 eggs on wholesale which i intended to re sale. To me that was the birth of my entrepreneurship journey. Fast forward ( will finish this story another day) my uncle Taurai Nixson Maisiri Hwekwete (who played a huge fatherly figure in my late teens) and my aunt ( not a big user if social media) secured me employment in one of the government departments. This did not kill my dream as my income I didn't see it as consumptive but saw it as capital. This enabled me to establish my 1st business ( in terms of size of income) which was a bottle at a very young age. As a young person I made a lot of mistakes and bad decisions which led to my downfall and me almost giving up. At this point I no longer believed in myself and was ready to quit. In 2017 around October a good Samaritan by the name Moreblessing Kunyangwe believed in me and saw in me the potential i had and the potential i no longer believed I bore. This lady employed me against all odds and stood by me until that potential sprouted and started growing again and am sure I made her proud and didn't disappoint. It is again at this point when I met my mentor ( directly and in directly) Dr Tinashe Manzungu who gave an insight of business i never knew existed. Guys this man is a smart man, hard worker and deep thinker and he opened my eyes when he would always say " you don't need capital to start a business but you need a solution to problems being faced by the market and if the solution is there the market will self fund the solution and that's your capital." So today I am the man iam today because of the contribution made by these people in my life and to date am now a small owner of a conglomerate by the name NM Holdings which comprise of Global Business Marketing Group a digital marketing company which offers all marketing solutions including branding, @4 MOTION AUTOMOTIVE CENTER which offers repairs and maintenance of VW/AUDI brand and the purchase of these non runner vehicles for rebuilding and re sale and our latest kid on the block Legacies Construction derived from the experience I got during my tenure of employment in the construction industry, and more are on the way until I live to my full potential and reach my destiny of becoming the 1st multi billionaire in our family. Last but not least I want to appreciate my wife Marylyn Mulekiwa for the support and her taking my tantrums when I am having stressful nights and days both at home and at work, with the continuous belief in me that I will reach my destiny. To my friends and customers your unwavering support is greatly appreciated as you push me to do more.
Happy birthday to me and to more years of vision, persistence and achievement
