PREPARE FOR YOUR MIRACLE

As you wait for the manifestation of your miracle, learn to respect the tension that exists between “now” and “not yet.” The expectation of a miracle requires the believer to find harmony between two seemingly conflicting realities. While he believes in his heart that the Word of God is true and that the promises God has made to him are reliable, he must also function as a citizen of the natural world while he waits for the promises of God to materialize in his life.

From my perspective, there are two extremes that you must avoid as you wait for God to answer your prayers and provide you with the miracle you seek. First, avoid the tendency to only believe what you can see. But, you must also avoid the tendency to live in the make-believe world of presumptive faith.

Learn to live in anticipation. Learn to prepare for your miracle, expect your miracle, and anticipate your miracle even while you continue to function without your miracle’s full availability. Prepare for your miracle by being a good steward of all God has given you to do.

Believe me, if you have genuinely heard from God regarding your miracle and if you are faithful with all He has placed in your hands to do while you wait for His intervention, He will not let you down. He will show himself more than faithful to you. He will show Himself to be a miracle-working God!

TRUST THE LORD

When you can’t see God’s hand, trust in His plan for your life. Providence is one of the most important aspects of God’s work in the believer’s life. Providence is simply “the protective care of God.” God has a purpose and destiny for every life. He personally intervenes in the lives of individuals to cause their destinies to unfold. He does work behind the scenes out of sight and out of mind. Mature believers can attest that God has never been far from them and He has always been working in their lives.

We need to learn to trust what God is doing. This is vitally important for the individual who is seeking a miracle from the hand of God. He fulfills His purposes and keeps His promises. In the midst, however, He is more interested in our spiritual well-being than our temporary comfort. So, while we are anxious to have our needs met and our problems solved, God is interested in strengthening our faith and developing our character.

Divine providence will compel the Lord to finish what He has started in your life and what He has promised to do for you. Your job is to keep doing what God has given you to do. In the right time and in the right way, God’s providence will come shining through for you in a sudden and unforgettable way.

PLANT YOUR SEED

You must plant an earthly seed before you can reap a heavenly harvest. Almost always, God will require a person to do something to advance his own miracle before God will do the supernatural part to bring that miracle to life. Our actions best reveal what we truly believe in our hearts, so obedient actions are an outward sign of inward faith.

Faith is identified through the things we do, not the things we claim to believe. When it comes to faith, actions speak louder than words. Every promise of God has a condition attached to it, a condition that must be satisfied before God will fulfill that specific promise in our lives.

We must plant our seed. To enable the seed to release the full harvest that is within it, you have to find the resolve to turn loose of that seed and to bury it in the soil. What you hold in your hand is a "seed.“ What God holds in His hand is a "harvest.“ Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and do exactly what He tells you to do regarding the seed you will sow. Expect your harvest. It’s all about showing God in a real, tangible way that He is more important to you than you are to yourself.

You have named your miracle, found scripture, asked for it, you are speaking it, and now is time to plant the seed.

REMOVE ALL DOUBT

Protect yourself from the influence of people who do not share your faith in God’s ability to perform a miracle in your life. The Lord has commanded His people to manifest His love to everyone, but at the same time, to set themselves apart from others in order to preserve their own spiritual health and to protect the sanctity of their own hearts.

People who lack faith have a powerful ability to destroy faith in the hearts of those who possess it. You need to be built up. You need to see what God is doing in the lives of other believers. You need to hear their testimonies and exhortations. If you intend to live the life of faith (a lifestyle that is necessary if you want to see miracles in your life), you must put respectable boundaries between yourself and those who do not believe in miracles.

When you need a miracle, you have to plant yourself in the midst of people who can encourage you and sustain you as you pray and patiently wait for the manifestation of God’s power in your life. Fill your life with positive thoughts and with positive people who can help you get from where you are to where you want to be.

CONFESS YOUR MIRACLE

Say the same thing about your miracle that God is saying to you through your heart and through His Word. Proverbs tells us that “death and life are in the power of the tongue.”

Personally, I believe the tongue is the most powerful force in the world. Words are never neutral. My mouth is a monitor that can help me know the true condition of my heart at any given time. One of the most effective things I can do, therefore, to modify my thoughts about something is to purposely change my speech about it and start speaking positive words about that situation even before I start “feeling” the sentiments. With the right words spoken at the right time and in the right way, I can actually change myself, change others, and change my circumstances. Self-talk, the words you say to yourself when nobody else is around, is far more important and carries far more weight than any words that any other person could ever say to you.

Your words will impact the miracle that you are requesting from God, because your words will reflect your attitude toward that miracle and toward God’s ability to provide it. Your words also will have a direct bearing on the actions you take or refuse to take to make your miracle a reality.

When we “confess” our miracle, we are not saying something that is untrue and we are not creating something out of nothing. We are “admitting with” God what He has already said about our miracle. “Say the same thing” about your miracle that God is saying about it. Confess your miracle every day until it arrives, saying the same things silently to yourself and out loud to other people that God is saying about your miracle to you.

CONFIRM YOUR MIRACLE

Find the biblical teaching or biblical precedent that confirms God’s willingness to provide the miracle that you seek. He will only answer those prayers that reflect His will for our lives. Therefore, before we pray, we must know what to pray. And in order to know what to pray, we must study the Scriptures.

Every great spiritual pursuit must begin in the deep recesses of the human heart, but it must conclude by lining up with the objective realities of God’s Word. When both the heart and the Scriptures align, the believer can move forward in confidence.

Use your brain! Accept nothing at face value and examine every word or thought. Test its spiritual authenticity in the Word. Compare what your heart is telling you with the objective truths of the Bible to confirm that you are hearing God’s voice.

To know the Word of God, therefore, is to know the will of God. To know the Word of God is to know the mind of God. A genuine miracle will always find its origins in the written Word of God. It is our only infallible guide for faith and conduct. You can stand on God’s Word. He will deliver on His promises.

NAME YOUR MIRACLE

Focus on one thing you need from the Lord and be SPECIFIC. Miracles aren’t these impossible, improbable, and unpredictable acts of God that defy all logic from an earthly perspective. They do not defy the original relationship that God established between the physical world and the spiritual world. In fact, miracles are those acts of God that cause these two worlds to overlap for a moment in time.

If you need something from the hand of God that you cannot produce by your own efforts, you will recognize God’s intervention in your life as a miracle no matter how others may characterize that event. God delights to do things for you that you cannot do for yourself. If you are obedient with the part of the equation that God has placed in your hands, He will be faithful with the part of the equation that you can’t handle. That is the anatomy of a miracle.

Focus right now on the one thing you need from God more than anything else. Something that is completely impossible or improbable without the direct intervention of the Lord! What is it you want God to change? What is it you want Him to provide? What is it you want Him to remove, heal or resurrect? Name it, write it down, and focus on it as we work through the seven principles for activating the miraculous power of God in your life

The Way In The Wilderness

Over the past 13 days, we have experienced the wilderness through the lenses of several characters from the bible. For our last day together, I thought it would be good to get personal. My name is Nobert Moyo

I consider myself a positive person. I am a dreamer and I get excited about the future - exploring new territories and diving head first into uncharted waters. However, some years back there was a long period of time where these were taken away from me by a series of uncertainties in my life. I came to fully understand what “Hope deferred makes the heart sick” meant in Proverbs 13:12.

I faced a series of uncertainties, which caused my confidence to slowly ebb away. It did not happen overnight, but little by little, these uncertainties ate at my soul. I fell into severe anxiety and began to lose sleep. I could only manage to get about an hour of sleep a night. Not knowing what to do, I started taking sleeping pills and from then on everything spiraled downwards.

It became very difficult for me as I had to put up a strong front to lead and act as though everything was alright. One of my scariest moments was when my memory became fragmented. I could not connect the sequences of many events correctly. I prayed and asked God for a breakthrough, but nothing happened.

Then one day, God spoke to me through one of the entries in an online forum. I was encouraged to focus on God and not my problems, I and invited the Holy Spirit to come and fill me once again. From that moment onwards, I prayed for the Holy Spirit to fill me every night. At first, it was tough to fall asleep without the pills, but thankfully, I experienced gradual healing from God.

I desperately needed a solution, a new game plan, but I was looking for answers in the wrong places.

The answer was written plainly in Isaiah 43 - that my focus should not be on “the new thing” or “the way in the wilderness”, but on the “I AM” - the God who is gracious, compassionate, forgiving and abounding in love!

I hope the journey over the past 14 days has reaffirmed your identity in Christ and helped you discover not just a way out of your wilderness, but the Way-Maker Himself.
Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV) - You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Congratulations for completing A Way In The Wilderness. We hope you found it helpful.
