Job description: Creative Media Designer
Overview
Location: Highlands, Harare (In-Person)
Position Type: Contract – 6 Months with the opportunity for permanent subject to performance
Reports To: Head of Creative Department
Role Purpose
As part of the company’s long-term growth and digital engagement strategy, we are looking for a creative, trend-driven, and multi-skilled Creative Media Designer to join our team.
This role combines graphic design, branding, photography, videography, and social media content creation, with a strong focus on TikTok and short-form video content. The successful candidate will support the creative department across a variety of branding and marketing projects while also leading the creation of engaging digital content for social media platforms.
The role is designed to strengthen the company’s visual identity, modernise digital storytelling, and support the broader vision of the organisation through innovative and engaging content creation.
Role Responsibilities
1. Graphic Design & Branding
• Create visually compelling designs for print, digital, and social media while adhering to brand guidelines and project specifications.
• Assist in the development and ex*****on of branding materials including logos, brand assets, presentations, and style guides.
• Design promotional material including posters, banners, social media graphics, presentations, and marketing collateral.
• Support digital marketing campaigns through creative design solutions and content development.
• Document and report billable hours and other key performance indicators as required.
2. Social Media Content Creation
• Film engaging TikTok and short-form social media videos onsite.
• Edit videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and other digital platforms.
• Develop creative, trend-driven content ideas aligned with the brand and organisational culture.
• Create content that increases audience engagement, reach, and platform growth.
• Assist in managing and maintaining social media platforms where required.
3. TikTok Strategy Development
• Develop and implement a TikTok content strategy focused on storytelling, engagement, and audience growth.
• Identify relevant trends, sounds, editing styles, and content opportunities.
• Recommend content pillars, posting schedules, and campaign ideas for social media growth.
• Monitor content performance and provide recommendations to improve results and engagement.
4. Photography & Videography
• Capture onsite photography and behind-the-scenes content for social media and marketing use.
• Assist with coverage of events, activities, and campaigns through visual storytelling.
• Maintain a consistent visual identity across all content and platforms.
5. Collaboration
• Work closely with the creative, production, and marketing teams to brainstorm and execute multi-channel campaigns.
• Contribute creative ideas and innovative solutions during planning sessions.
• Stay up to date with emerging trends, tools, technologies, and best practices in design and social media.
Skills and Qualifications
Graphic Design & Branding
• Demonstrated graphic design skills with a portfolio of previous work.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or equivalent design software.
• Understanding of branding principles, layouts, typography, and visual storytelling.
Video Editing & Content Creation
• Experience filming and editing TikTok and short-form video content.
• Proficiency in editing tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar software.
• Strong understanding of TikTok trends, hooks, storytelling, and audience engagement.
Photography & Videography
• Ability to capture high-quality photography and video content using a phone or camera.
• Basic understanding of lighting, framing, and composition.
Social Media Knowledge
• Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube Shorts.
• Understanding of social media trends, algorithms, and content performance metrics.
Organisational & Communication Skills
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality output.
Education and Experience
• Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Media, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
• Previous experience in a marketing agency, creative environment, or similar role is advantageous.
• Portfolio or examples of previous design and content creation work required.
