đź’ŽNEW CHAPTER FOR A YALLINGUP ICON

For generations of South West locals and visitors, John Miller's distinctive jewellery has become part of the fabric of Yallingup.

Now, after more than 50 years as one of Australia's most recognisable jewellery makers, the celebrated craftsman is embarking on a new chapter, reopening a showroom in Broome almost half a century after becoming the pearling town's first jeweller.

The new gallery, named Dampier's Chest, sits just metres from the location of Miller's original Broome store, which opened in 1979.

For many in the South West, however, Miller's story is equally tied to Yallingup, where he established his workshop and gallery in 1996.

Born into one of WA's best-known creative families — the son of author and historian Dame Mary Durack and nephew of artist Elizabeth Durack — Miller has spent decades drawing inspiration from the landscapes, wildlife and coastlines of both the Kimberley and the South West.

His handcrafted silver and gold pieces, stamped with native flora, marine life and iconic Aussie imagery have become instantly recognisable.

Today, John Miller Design employs 14 staff and operates galleries in both Yallingup and Broome.
He is the largest buyer of silver for jewellery in Australia.
He also has the largest collection of metal punches in the world - more than 1500 - each one handmade.

While the Broome expansion marks an exciting new venture, Miller says his connection to the South West region remains as strong as ever.

His Yallingup workshop continues to be the heart of the business, where traditional gold and silversmithing techniques are used to create jewellery inspired by the natural world.

More than five decades after first stepping into a jewellery workshop as an 18-year-old apprentice, Miller shows little sign of slowing down.

"To take my work back there, to rediscover that magic in my work, that was the lure," he said of the Broome project.

For a man whose jewellery has connected people to place for generations, the new gallery represents not a reinvention, but a return to where much of the story began.

One month since .swimming Andy Donaldson’s record-breaking swim, 55km along the Ord River. Invited by Ben Broady to run swim clinics and inspire people to swim ahead of the town’s new pool reopening after being closed for two years, he decided to do the Dam to Dam Challenge to shine a light on Kununurra. That light was bright!
These PR results speak for themselves. Massive reach across the world with 4 x the population of Australia reading, listening or watching Andy’s story.
As far as media reach goes, this is the biggest story to ever come out of Kununurra (according to Claude and ChatGPT).
This is just the beginning, the ripple effect of global publicity continues. Exciting things are happening.
Pronto PR is proud to announce Andy Donaldson as a client.
