Edmonton is among Canada’s least safe-feeling cities, according to a new Liaison Strategies poll, with a net safety score of -8, tied with Vancouver. 📉
Fifty per cent of respondents said Edmonton is somewhat or very unsafe, while 42 per cent felt it was safe or very safe. That marks a 32-point drop from 2017, one of the largest declines in the survey.
Quebec City ranked safest at +57, followed by Ottawa (+56) and Charlottetown (+51). Toronto scored -18 and Winnipeg -28.
News coverage was the top factor influencing perceptions (28%), followed by personal experience (23%), only 12% pointed to crime statistics. Edmonton’s overall crime rate rose 3.2% in 2025, with property crime jumping 10.1%.
