Slightly tense job yesterday morning, turning up to paint and gild the latest entry on the Mayor's honours at Wimborne Town Hall, realising on arrival that the hall is fully carpeted and had been decorated for a wedding that lunchtime and, therefore, would require my full powers of focus and concentration not to drop my brush or spill any paint.

Anyway, all went to plan and there were no accidents. This was my first time on these boards. The Town Hall approached me after the previous signwriter retired.

It's always interesting following on from another signwriter's work. I always try to copy their style a little, to create consistency, while still allowing for my own methods too so that I'm still lettering with confidence to produce something I'm happy with.

Painted this last week and popped back this morning to take some photos following the removal of the scaffolding.

The building has had a full spruce up and I was tasked with lettering the name and numbers onto the porchway as the final touch.

Regency Court is on Knyveton Road. Now a residential apartment building, it was originally a Victorian hotel, and subsequently served as the wartime headquarters for the National Society's Training College of Domestic Science and residence of Henry Page Croft who served in Churchill's wartime cabinet.

It was also a college, as Sarah pointed out to me that she studied there.

The builders also informed of the rumours that the building was the location for secret meetings between the then Prince Of Wales (later King Edward VII) and Lillie Langtry.

Honours boards updates for Parkstone Grammar School last week.

The latest headteacher entry added, along with the closing date on the previous entry, and applied with gold leaf; and a new Head Girls board started, with the header painted along with two names added, all in black enamel.

The previous entries on the headteacher board would be dad's work, and I think he produced the original board and the crest / logo at the top.
