When Big Mamma of Big Mamma's Sandwich Club gets passionate about good food… you KNOW about it! 😂🙌

Already running her hugely successful sandwich shop on Cowbridge Road in Canton, Big Mamma knows a thing or two about proper, honest, home-cooked food. And there’s one Cardiff chippy she’s been a genuine fan of for a LONG time, Top Deck Fish & Chips.

In fact, this vlog wasn’t our idea… Big Mamma approached Cardiff Advertising Co. herself because she wanted to give Top Deck a proper shout-out and say thanks for all the great food she’s enjoyed over the years. ❤️🐟🍟

And in true Big Mamma fashion, there’s no shortage of hype, laughs, personality and trademark enthusiasm! But underneath all that wonderful madness, this is a 100% genuine Big Mamma plug for Top Deck.

And there might just be a little surprise along the way… 👀💥

This is something I’ve kept to myself for quite some time, but I’m really proud to finally share it.

I recently had the opportunity to write the song and produce the accompanying video celebrating Pentrebane’s iconic water tower, affectionately known locally as “The Balloon”, working with our partners at Cardiff Tracks and alongside NFA.

The idea came from conversations I’ve had with people in Pentrebane over the years. For many, The Balloon is far more than an old water tower. It has stood over the community for more than six decades and forms part of the backdrop to their childhoods, memories and sense of home.

I also wanted the song and video to reflect the changes happening around it. Fields where generations once played and wandered through the long grass are gradually disappearing beneath new development, while The Balloon continues to stand above an evolving landscape.

For me, this was never simply a song about a water tower. It became a story about community, memory, change and the landmarks that quietly become part of our lives.

I’m proud to have written the piece and produced the video, and particularly proud that Cardiff Advertising Co. could be a small part of bringing it to life with our partners at Cardiff Tracks.

Hopefully, for those who grew up beneath The Balloon, it captures a little piece of Pentrebane that means something to them too.

Advertising isn’t just something we do. It’s a passion. It’s an art form.

Our latest advert for Big Mamma’s Sandwich Club does exactly that.

We open on the beach. Small waves wash gently over the pebbles. For a few milliseconds, everything suggests the relaxing seaside scene you’d expect. Then, we rip up the rule book!

Big Mamma presses play on the hi-fi and the whole advert bursts into life. Upbeat house music kicks in as she makes her way across the pebbles, hi-fi swinging in hand, bringing her own unmistakable energy to the beach.

The music drops. There she is: signature white hat, daisy flower sunglasses, sitting comfortably on a bold red mat with one of Big Mamma’s famous salad boxes and zapiekanka melts.

It’s more than a product shot. It’s a moment. An invitation to get out there, enjoy yourself and “Make your day a Big Mamma’s Day.”

Then the music lifts again.

The camera takes flight, rising higher and higher above the beach as Big Mamma lies back on the red blanket, looking towards the sky. We keep pulling away until she becomes just a dot against the landscape.

MAKE YOUR DAY A BIG MAMMA’S DAY.

All in just under a minute.

That’s our approach to advertising, build a world, set an expectation, break it, create energy. Give the audience something memorable and, most importantly, make them feel something.

Because when someone heads out on their next adventure, we don’t just want them to remember an advert.

We want Big Mamma’s to be their first port of call.
