Around 25 years ago, when I was approx. in grade 11, I used to play a little game with myself.
Every morning, I’d open the newspaper, look at the ads, and try to guess which agency had made them. Then I’d check the agency key to see if I was right.
I still remember, I could mostly spot an O&M ad. It either made me smile in the mind or touched me in some way.
That’s how my love for advertising began and how I started following Ogilvy’s work long before I even knew what “brand thinking” meant.
I’ve never worked with Piyush, but I’ve followed his work closely. I’ve always been a fan. This picture is from Kyoorius Design Yatra, when he said to me, “Human beings need to give love and get love.
And in that moment, it all made sense. Behind every great brand, campaign, or piece of design, there’s really just one thing that matters: to make someone feel something.
People like him don’t even know how deeply they’ve inspired those who never met them, never worked with them, but built their careers chasing the kind of honesty his work carried.
