It's been some time since Case Basket Comms posted here - we're normally working on social media on clients' pages. But it brings me, Sally Webster, great pleasure to announce that Building the Future; From the Ground Up is printed and selling now 😁. Here it is sitting in the sun on my coffee table.

A HUGE thanks to the wonderful Kickstarter backers of this project - ( that has been an incredible learning curve 🙏) and to everyone who has supported me along the way. Of course, major thanks to publisher, 'main character' and major funder, Paul Geraets. He and Eve at Terra Firma Earth Building Company Ltd have been such a pleasure to work with.

Right now, we're selling the books direct via the Terra Firma webpage: https://www.earthhomes.co.nz/order-the-book/ and we'll soon see them in selected book shops in Auckland, then who knows! Feel free to email me with any questions about getting a copy of the book, inluding overseas postage: [email protected]

Wow. It's the last five days of the Building the Future Kickstarter campaign. In line with folk taking action at the last minute, we've uploaded a video update to entice the 10 x backers we need to reach a milestone mid week! Below is the video, but head over to
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/buildingthefuture/building-the-future-from-the-ground-up to get on board for your Chapter One package. Click on 'back this project'. A fiver is all it takes to build the future better :)

The Building the Future Kickstarter journey is almost up! But along that path I've come across some superb projects. One such project is this gritty and heart-warming book by my new Kickstarter supporter and supportee, Dr Kay Flavell. I urge you to check it out if you like people-focused histories and true stories.

People of the Lane: Living in and Around Lark Lane, 1880-2020. Wonderful Liverpool life stories and photos, 40 years ago and today.

In sharing the good news of our 33% + progress on Building the Future today, we also learnt that New Zealand's globally revered earth building codes are in danger of becoming dilute. We can all do something about this: we can make submissions against those changes; we can support the writing of a book that reveals why this is so important. Read more here:

A Kickstarter campaign to write a book on rammed earth winds up the same day building codes for this sustainable practice need urgent submissions.

Here at Case Basket Comms we're thrilled to be part of this story project to build houses better for people's physical and mental wellbeing, and for the environment. Check out

This stunning and telling book is a colab with Terra Firma Earth Building Company Ltd who work incredibly hard to bring this kind of change about through rammed earth building in New Zealand.
If you've come onto this page as a result of our Kickstarter campaign, I (Sally Webster, Director) do urge you to spend some time 'reading more' on the campaign page above, and also to check out the Terra Firma link.
Become part of our private Fb Building the Future group and join us in this project to change the building industry for good!

Building the Future; From the Ground Up is 22% funded! A huge thanks to everyone who has taken the time to sign up and chip in. But Sally and the Terra Firma team need to get 10 more backers this week to be able to tell this story. If you can spare 5 minutes and 5 dollars please do jump on to Kickstarter and click on 'Back this project.'

When we look at where materials come from it's not hard to see where our carbon footprints can be lightened and where we can be thankful we're doing everything we practicably can. But at Terra Firma we know there is always room for improvement and that's why we'e backing this vital story.
In Chapter 5, Sally will look at how we and others in rammed earth building source and use materials.
How far do these materials travel? How are additional build components made and where? Is cement from Chinese kilns reported to be less environmentally impactful than that sourced from US kilns? Let's find out.
We want to see the same questions applied to areas of the conventional building industry - we're expecting some interesting conversations and interviews on what is increasingly being referred to as 'fast housing!'
But we also want to share some examples of responsible and inspiring supply chains and sourcing practices from around the world, such as new carbon architectures that can work in and alongside rammed earth.
However, we can only make all this happen if you join us. Please, become part of a group of people looking to change the building industry for good and pledge $5 to the funding of this story. Couldn't resist borrowing this brilliant cartoon, found orginally on GridFreeNZ, to illustrate what many of my current and past project clients are doing: educating people on good old fashioned, simple, common sense :)
Terra Firma Earth Building Company Ltd are asking folk to look at what's already here in nature and build with it, lightening carbon footprints on the way. Our Kids Online are asking parents to take away unnecessary and dangerous digital distractions from children...so they can actually just get outside and be children. Rewild the Child 2. LIVE EVENT did the same thing years before. To read more about change-makers who are bringing us back down to earth visit www.casebasketcomms.com/our-stories

While loving my work on media and comms for the wonderful Case Basket Comms clients, I (Sally Webster) couldn't resist bringing my old journo skills out of the box and write a book too :) And what better time to launch a campaign for a sustainable earth building story than Earth Day 2021.
With the professional and financial support of the central character- kiwi rammed earth builder, vegan, activist and ardent surfer Paul Geraets- Chapter One is complete!
Now we're crowdfunding the rest.
If you want to see the building industry change to make health and the environment priorities long term, do take a few minutes to watch and read at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/buildingthefuture/building-the-future-from-the-ground-up
