Hello, parents and children.
I am hoping to pique your interest in a usability evaluation we will be conducting in between June and July 2022 for the “Action!” project, an educational-purpose immersive 3D virtual world.
Our group from AUT is very interested in getting feedback from school children who aged 11-14 to learn how well “Action!” project is supporting your children in exploring the emerging immersive virtual reality (VR) technology and getting educated in the immersive virtual world. This evaluation is very important to our group because it will result in a set of recommendations that will help improve “Action!” to better support our youth in performing their everyday home and school actions, especially for maintaining youth wellbeing after-COVID context.
Your children may be excellent candidate(s) for giving feedback to the evaluation process. You will only need to spare 30 minutes on one of these days 18 June, 19 June, 25 June, 26 June, 2 July, 3 July, 9 July, 10 July, and help us out with this evaluation. You will not have to do anything specific to prepare for it. The researcher will guide your kid to experience our project using devices provided by us. Your children will need to talk and explain their thoughts during their playing session, and have a quick discussion of their overall experience after the session. I would also like to let you know that the session will be video-taped, but these tapes will be used by the research team within AUT for analysis purposes only; all information, including your children’s identity, will remain confidential.
Please be very careful if your children have previously reported severe VR-related side effects. We suggest you consult with your doctor first. More information will be given in the information sheet.
Please let us know by 2 days before the visit date whether or not you and your children are interested. I will get in touch with you within 2 working days with more information and consent forms. Please also let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you very much for your time. We will be really appreciated if you will be able to help us with your participation.
Best regards,
Ms Yulun Wu, Master student [email protected]
Dr Stephen Thorpe, Primary supervisor [email protected]
