How well do you know your application? As developers it would seem very natural, and expected, that we are across the entire product, and intimately familiar with the code. Deep knowledge means we can both explain the internal workings, and have highly productive client discussions.
With the speed of development rapidly rising with AI, keeping pace with application knowledge has become even more critical. Simply letting AI agents do it all and accepting the role of becoming a less willing participant in the process opens the door to losing application knowledge, which can lead to poor data being provided to decision makers and even poorer outcomes.
AI agents used well deliver huge productivity gains, but should the gains come at the expense of the loss of product knowledge? We think not, which is why our developers remain fully informed. Being able to communicate product knowledge is a vital skill that allow us to continue to ship high quality products for our clients.
