The Heart Foundation has been working alongside the food industry to set sugar reduction targets for a wide range of foods found in many Kiwi pantries. They have also had a long running salt reduction programme going since 2007.
This ‘Health by stealth’ initiative is a fantastic example of the food industry and public health working together to improve the nutritional quality of the foods we eat. Small changes in the salt and sugar content of staple foods can have a beneficial effect on our overall consumption and long-term health.
With our understanding of nutrition and our clients’ needs, we know the importance of balancing taste, convenience, and functionality when reformulating food products.
