Meet Nathan! Our Studio Manager here at Flume.

Nathan joined the Flume whānau in 2020 as an Account Executive. Nathan developed an affinity for culture building as well as management and soon enough, his role transformed and he became our very own Studio Manager!

You might not know but Nathan is also an opera singer! Having studied classical voice at the University of Auckland, Nathan has been singing professionally with New Zealand Opera and Voices New Zealand Chamber Choir on the side while working for Flume.

You'll probably know Red Bull as the brand that sells energy drinks. But Red Bull has a bigger goal: to help people push the boundaries of what is possible and achieve extraordinary things.

In 2019, Red Bull launched their Red Bull Basement start up competition which aims to empower student innovators to drive positive change through tech-based solutions. Over the past 3 years we have had the privilege of sponsoring and supporting Red Bull on their mission to give 'wings' to Aucklands University start up scene. We were brought in to design a two-week incubator that would help bring winner's idea to life in preparation for pitching it at the global competition. The programme has been a huge success having had 6 competition winners through the incubator and 2 student-led businesses successfully launched.

How has your business adapted to a COVID working environment?

At Flume, we've done our best to mimic our work environment as if we were in the office together. It is clear that tools like Zoom have provided enormous benefits to businesses working from home, however, it sometimes misses the mark in areas such as social interactions and impromptu discussions that you get when you are in the office.

As a digital transformation agency, we are always looking for ways to improve human experiences with the use of digital. During lockdown, we've introduced Tandem to emulate an office-like environment. With Tandem, we are able to see what each other is working on, who is busy/free and jump straight into calls with other members of the team to collaborate on our work.

Not to mention, it's great for hosting Friday afternoon beverages with the team after a big week! 🍻

Making a splash with Just Water's new digital experience 💦

For 30 years, Just Water have kept New Zealanders hydrated and refreshed with their drinking water solutions for home, work and play throughout New Zealand.

Flume were brought in to build a new website alongside the refreshed Just Water brand, and to understand how they could improve their customer experience and better position the brand digitally. We began by mapping their customer journey, which included in-depth workshops with the team. We then identified a number of opportunities to reduce confusion customers were having with their current experience and designed a new site that transformed Just Water's digital experience. As a result, we were able to deliver a cutting edge website which significantly increased user engagement and strengthened their position in the market.
