Earlier this year, our Creative Producer Eugene Tuigamala headed home to New Zealand to document the Young Pacific Leaders program — a U.S. Department of State initiative bringing together emerging leaders from across the Pacific region.
Working with Pacific Cooperation Broadcasting Limited (PCBL), Eugene joined 30 young leaders from across the Pacific, capturing the stories, connections and moments that made the experience so special.
The trip also celebrated 10 years of our client PCBL, an organisation dedicated to telling Pacific stories, by Pacific people, for Pacific people.
With a theme of “navigating the digital landscape” the conference had kiwi actors Cliff Curtis, Te Kohe Tuhaka in attendance, our board chair Brent Impey and co-founder too.
“Working with Pasifika TV has been a huge privilege,” says Eugene. “Last year I spent nearly a month in the United States documenting another cohort, so getting the chance to return home to New Zealand and meet this new group was pretty special.
Hearing their stories, learning about the work they’re doing, and gaining a deeper understanding of our Pacific nations was a real eye-opener.
Working with PCBL over the past year has been incredibly meaningful both personally and professionally.”
The full 20-minute long form video premieres on the Pasifika TV YouTube channel tonight at 6pm NZT.
