Coffee in one hand. New ideas in the other. ☕

The best marketing conversations start with better questions and a breakfast worth waking up for.

This August & September, Brainy Breakfast in partnership with TRA is coming to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch with conversations designed to challenge assumptions and spark new ideas.

Because the questions shaping marketing today aren’t always the easy ones:
→ Are people really rational?
→ Are we measuring what matters?
→ Are we building brands that last?

Join the conversation. Save your seat (and your morning).

A huge thank you to Andrew Tindall for sharing your incredible expertise with the New Zealand community last week!

Andrew shared some fantastic takeaways around efficiency vs effectiveness, consistency and creator marketing.

Marketers can get obsessed with optimising clicks, lowering CPMs and improving ROAS.

But as Andrew reminded us last week...
Efficiency doesn't equal effectiveness.

Fresh from the UK, Andrew joined us for two incredible events:
🎤 Digital Day Out 2026, where 530+ marketers came together to explore the future of digital marketing.
🎭 An exclusive public session at Q Theatre, unpacking The Creator Effectiveness Playbook and Compound Creativity: Fresh from Cannes Lions 2026.

His biggest message?
The brands that win aren't always the most efficient.
They're the ones brave enough to build distinctive, emotional and consistent creative that compounds over time.

Some of the ideas we'll be thinking about long after the applause:
💡 Consistency compounds creativity into market share.
💡 Showmanship builds future demand. Salesmanship converts it.
💡 Creator marketing isn't just a performance channel, it's a powerful brand-building tool when it's authentic.
💡 Fame isn't built by changing your creative every campaign. It's built by staying recognisable.

A huge thank you to Andrew for travelling all the way from the UK and delivering two thought-provoking sessions packed with evidence, inspiration and practical takeaways.
And thank you to MediaWorks for making Andrew's visit to New Zealand possible.

Here's to creating work that's not just more efficient but more effective. 🚀

Google Ads is changing on 17 August.

If you're using Target CPA or Target ROAS, this update could impact your campaign performance if no one reviews your settings beforehand.

Admatic's latest Resource Hub article explains what the change means, who's affected, and the three questions every marketer should be asking.

It's also a good reminder that you don't need to be the Google Ads expert you just need to know enough to ask the right questions.

Want to build that confidence? Our Google Ads Masterclass on 12 August covers the fundamentals behind how Google Ads works, so you can make better decisions and have more informed conversations with your agency or team.

Nobody gets promoted because their CTR improved.

They get promoted because they help the business grow.

For years, marketers have been asked to prove ROI.

But the marketers earning a seat at the executive table are answering a different question:

"How is marketing helping the business grow?"

That's a very different conversation.

It means understanding commercial strategy, revenue, finance, and business outcomes, not just campaign performance.

Next week, join Andy Lark to explore what it really means to become a commercial marketer; someone who understands the balance sheet as well as the brand, revenue as well as reach, and business strategy as well as marketing strategy.

Because the marketers shaping the future of their organisations aren't just great marketers.

They're commercially minded leaders.

⏰ Just one week to go. | https://marketing.org.nz/commercial-marketer/andy-lark
