Mindful fashion 2025 showing off my mum’s talent (Maureen Reinds)
Originally entered into the sustainability category but this Avant-Garde masterpiece was lucky enough to have its own spotlight and be apart of the final awards night exhibition 🫶🏼
The garment consists of three layers of hand knitted video tape, recycled mohair and wool sourced from various places around the country. (Landfill and second hand sources)
It took my mum around 10 months to fully finish garment and yes, her hands are buggered (her words)
I am also wearing one of her outfits completely made from shopping bags (skirt) and old receipts (bodice).
It’s been so hard to write this all up as these words can’t contextualise how proud I am of my mums work and finally getting her work OUT of the basement and OUT in the open for y’all to see and appreciate 🤩
