Great to be in the room today at the Marketing Association meeting at the Northern Club’s Winter Garden, sponsored by Federation.

'The Budget Pitch: How to Speak the CFO’s Language' sparked sharp discussion on aligning marketing spend to strategy, justifying experimentation, and presenting long-term brand investment to financially focused boards.

A timely reminder that staying close to the right conversations and people matters if you want to keep learning and stay commercially sharp.

On Saturday, I attended the Auckland watch party for Live2Lead, hosted by Maxwell Leadership and led by John C. Maxwell.
Different country, same intention. Leadership doesn’t grow by accident; it grows by exposure.

The consistent message was clear:
- Leadership is identity before it is skill
- Growth requires discomfort
- Influence is earned daily
- Resilience is built long before it’s needed

There’s something powerful about being in a room with individuals who are committed to personal growth, not just business growth.

Businesses grow at the speed of leadership, and leadership sets the ceiling. Your business will rarely outgrow the leader running it.

Feeling incredibly grateful today.
It’s the people. Always the people.

The ones who show up with kindness, honesty, and encouragement.
The ones who challenge me to grow.

And the ones who’ve walked beside me as I build new chapters, relaunching Footprint Collective, mentoring, studying, and navigating this wild but beautiful business journey.

I’m so thankful for the communities that have become part of my world:
the Auckland Chamber where I mentor, the Business Blueprint family, the amazing connections at The Crate, the BNI guest visits, and the podcast invitations that still make me smile every time they land in my inbox.

And yes… there’s a second business on the way. Watch this space. 👀

Grateful, energised, and genuinely loving the company I’m choosing to keep.

You make the tough days lighter and the wins even sweeter.

If you’re one of them, thank you. Truly.

Gratitude takes on a unique form when you are building something meaningful. Recently, I have been reflecting on the incredible individuals I am fortunate to have in my life, leaders, innovators, creators, and dedicated business owners who show up with courage, integrity, and heart.

Every conversation, collaboration, walk-and-talk, and late-night idea exchange reinforces my passion for why I do what I do.

I am deeply thankful for the quality of people surrounding me, from the founders I mentor to the distributors and partners exploring new opportunities with me, and the purpose-driven leaders who inspire me to think bigger.

When you surround yourself with the right people, momentum becomes effortless. I feel that momentum every single day.

Here’s to continued growth, aligned partnerships, and more good humans in the room.

"If you see loyalty as a cost and not a return on the asset, which is your customer and your team, that 'cost' won't last until Christmas. The mindset has to change: loyalty is an investment, and it delivers a return."

This is one of the biggest takeaways I had from the recent episode I filmed with Adam Posner for The Purpose-Led CEO podcast.

The biggest shift Adam is seeing is leaders getting clear on the WHY of a program.

It’s Business Blueprint conference in Sydney this week. I’m “attending” in Auckland at the watch party.

Today’s masterclass with entrepreneur John Lee was powerful.

I’ll be sharing my 3 key takeaways.

CEO stands for Chief Energy Officer.

As the leader, you bring the energy every day. But more than that, you have to genuinely care for the people within your organization. Marketing is nothing without people, and that's for both your internal team and your customers.

When times are tough, that team culture is everything.

Two years ago, Rory Wyatt, owner of Naked Marketing Agency , lost his biggest client just before December.

He took a morning to myself, locked himself away to plan, and then went straight back to the team.

He laid out the situation because he doesn't hide the revenue figures, and I think this is a great principle to live by.

The result? Their team pulled together, hit their goals, and improved their revenue within months!

How do you embed loyalty into an organization?

It's not just about the customer on the outside; it’s about your people on the inside.

When .cromhout audits loyalty programs, her first question is always: "Is this loved by your people?"

She says that if your staff doesn't understand your loyalty program, it will fail.

Your strategy is worthless if your team doesn't actually live it every day (it would just be words on paper).

Have you ever looked at the business you poured your heart into and felt something's missing?

You have a clear vision for your customer experience, but the gap between the strategy on paper and your team's daily action feels insurmountable.

You've tried the new software and the glossy consultant decks, but nothing sticks...

You're overworking, and you're still not seeing the breakthrough where your team is aligned and moving as one.

Here's the uncomfortable truth: most businesses don't fail because of bad ideas.

They fail because leaders get trapped in the strategy cycle of endless plans and campaigns that never make it past the boardroom. It's death by PowerPoint.

I've lived that.

After 25 years helping brands globally, I saw the same painful truth: brilliant strategies collapse without a culture and team that can execute them.

My question to you is this:

Is your business built to match the scale of your customer vision?

Are you creating systems that allow your customer promise to reach its full potential?

Or are you stuck in the strategy gap, where your plan can only get as big as the hours in your day?

This is exactly why I created Footprint Collective.

Shoot me a message if you're curious about making the necessary changes to ensure your business not only grows, but also stays around for the long run.
