✨ BIG NEWS from Sio Design! We've been playing in boxes... literally! ✨

You know how it goes – trying to get a family photo where everyone looks good, no one's blinking, the kids aren't complaining about standing still, and you're not self-conscious about that extra roll? Yeah, me too! 👋

That's why I'm SO excited to share this incredible "Whanau Box Portrait" we created as a test run for a new offering at Sio Design!

Honestly, for me, it was pure genius – no evidence of my current weight, no stressing about how tall the kids are getting, and even the self-conscious teens felt great because their photos were taken separately! Our fur-babies even got in on the action. 🐾

The magic? Everyone gets their own box and their own moment to shine. No one gets annoyed at anyone else for blinking or fluffing about. It’s chaos, contained in a box, and full of genuine laughter and fun. We had such a blast doing this!

I've already ordered a gorgeous canvas print to hang on our wall, and I can't wait to show you the final product.

When passion meets purpose—and a bit of documentary magic. 🎥✨

There is something incredibly special about being invited to tell a community story. Lately, Chris has been in his absolute element, working on an exciting new project that feels more like a mini-documentary than a standard corporate video.

We are currently filming and editing a showcase for a local Māori organisation, and the energy on set has been inspiring. For Chris, this is where the magic happens—balancing the technical precision of the rig with the heart of the story being told.

At Sio Design Limited, we don't just "hit record." Whether we are:

- Filming deep-dive documentary-style projects

- Capturing brand stories through professional photography

- Building digital homes through web design
..our goal is always to showcase the authentic soul of the organizations we work with.

We love the "behind-the-scenes" hustle (and as you saw in our last post, we’re lucky to have the kids helping out on these sets too!). It’s a privilege to use our craft to shine a light on the amazing work happening right here in our community.

When we started this business, it wasn't just about following our creative passions—it was about building a space where our children could learn and grow alongside us. Seeing that vision in action is the best part of the job.

Check out Jessica, our second eldest, in her "utility assistant" pose!
She’s been a massive help to Chris on recent filming projects, keeping things moving behind the scenes. She joins our eldest, Alana, who has already jumped in part-time after completing her web design training and is now eyeing a photography apprenticeship with Chris.

That’s what it’s all about for us: mentorship, family, and passing on the craft.

Sio Design attended the Tauranga Māori Business Association AGM event. Whilst AGM's aren't famous for being the most fun events I can honestly say TMBA make it worth attending, providing opportunities to network, support Maori businesses and for this hard working small business it is also the closest we get to a date night these days! Food, drinks and engaging conversation. Highly recommend joining!
