BREGENTE, QUINTANILLA AHEAD IN SG AMATEUR OPEN

Rolando Bregente shot an impressive seven-under-par 64, that was highlighted by an eagle on the last hole, to post a two-stroke lead in the mens division of the Singapore Open Amateur Championship held at the Singapore Island Country Club (Bukit course) in Singapore.

Bregente had a two-under card at the turn after making four birdies as against two bogeys. But he was more sensational after as the guy known as "Ak Ak" back home ended his inward nine with a five-under including that eagle on the 18th.

Australian Jonty Luson of Australia trails with a 66.

LOOK WHO’S BACK - Kim Joo-hyuny, more known in the golfing circle as Tom Kim, returned to Riviera Golf Club, his home course during his amateur days. He played in the year-end family sceamble tournament-his first since he last played in December 2017.
If there’s one thing that remains true, Tom is still a heavy eater as confessed by his father Kim ChangIk, himself of former professional golfer. “During meals at home, one rice cooker is reserved for Tom,” he said with a smile.

NGAP News: 2026 Philippine Amateur Open Golf Championship

The National Golf Association of the Philippines is excited to announce the 2026 Philippine Amateur Open Golf Championship, happening August 4 to 8, 2026 at Luisita Golf & Country Club. Official practice round is August 3, with stroke play qualifying from August 4-5, and match play rounds from August 6-8.

Men’s Division: WHS handicap index of 8.0 and below
Ladies’ Division: WHS handicap index of 12.0 and below

Divisions based on July 1, 2026 WHS handicap index.

Interclub Invitational Cup: here’s what the captains of Eastridge and Mount Malarayat have to say with regards to their guys’ respective performances in the finals opener.

Dennis Nicomedes of Malarayat - “The result was truly a blessing from God. Winning 3 matches against Eastridge was more than we expected. They are a powerhouse team, and our goal going into the away match was simply to win at least 2 matches or, at the very least, keep the deficit manageable so we could give ourselves a strong chance on our home course.
We fully expect Eastridge to field their strongest lineup when they come to our home course. We will pray for victory, prepare and compete with all our hearts, and leave the outcome to God. To Him be all the glory!”

Gimo Asuncion (Eastridge) - “Not the result we were hoping for yesterday. Malarayat played well. Could've been a different story if several putts dropped. Team is looking forward to the challenge next week. We have been in a similar situation before. Hopefully we play better and get some breaks as well. Its first to 5.5 points so we will do our best!”

With the co-hosting agreement officially signed, the stage has been sealed for the 76th Januarius Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament.

From November 24 to December 12, 2026, the fairways of Baguio Country Club and John Hay Golf Club will once again welcome around 1,500 amateur golfers for two weeks of world-class competition, sportsmanship, and unforgettable moments.

As the Asia-Pacific's longest-running and biggest amateur golf tournament enters its 76th year, we look forward to writing another remarkable chapter in its legacy.

ZURI BAGALOYOS wins the girls 14-18 division in Innesbrook Junior Open of the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour held at the Innesbrook Island course in Florida.
