Three full moons. Three names. Three stories written across the night sky. 🌕

🌕 **Sturgeon Moon** — August 28
🌕 **Harvest Moon** — September 26
🌕 **Hunter’s Moon** — October 26

From a lunar eclipse to the changing seasons, the Moon keeps marking time in ways we’ve watched for centuries.

**Look up. The sky has a story to tell. 🌌**

For a few minutes, daytime can feel like night. 🌑
During a total solar eclipse, the sudden darkness can disrupt the normal rhythms of wildlife. Birds may become quiet, while nocturnal sounds can briefly emerge.
Nature doesn't understand an eclipse as an astronomical event—it simply reacts to the sudden disappearance of daylight.

Tonight, look west after sunset. ✨
Venus is passing close to Spica, the brightest star in the constellation Virgo.
The two objects may look like a cosmic pair—but they’re separated by an enormous distance.
One is a planet in our Solar System.
The other is a star roughly 250 light-years away.
Same sky. Completely different worlds. 🌌

What would it feel like to watch Earth’s shadow cross the Moon from above the clouds? 🌑✈️
NASA’s September 1, 2026 Astronomy Picture of the Day captures exactly that kind of perspective — a lunar eclipse photographed from an airplane over Portugal.
Sometimes, the most incredible views of space happen from places we least expect.

The Solar System is lining up again. 🌌
Throughout September, five planets — Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune — can be found stretched across the pre-dawn sky, with the lineup reaching a notable point around September 10.
And no — they aren't actually forming a straight line in space.
From Earth, we're simply looking along the ecliptic, the apparent path where the planets appear across our sky.
Set the alarm. Look up before sunrise.

Some planets don't have a future. 🌊🔥
HD 176071 b is an extraordinary “hot water world” about 335 light-years away.
With a year lasting only 14 hours, this planet orbits incredibly close to its star—and tidal forces are slowly driving it toward a fatal encounter.
A reminder that the universe doesn't just create worlds.
It destroys them too.

🚀 Tomorrow, NASA launches a telescope built to investigate the Universe’s biggest mysteries.

Nancy Grace Roman will study dark energy, dark matter, exoplanets, galaxies, and the accelerating expansion of the cosmos. 🌌

A new window into the Universe opens tomorrow. 🔭

Earth may have a tiny cosmic companion. 🌍🌑
Quasi-moons are asteroids that travel around the Sun on an orbit similar to Earth’s.

They aren't true moons—but their strange relationship with our planet can make them look like temporary second moons.
