YOU CANNOT ACHIEVE TOTAL HAPPINESS
WITHOUT GIVING
---------------------------------------------------------

I tell you a story…
There was a man who had a dream one night. He dreamt that he had died and found himself immediately in a large room.

In the room, there was a huge banquet table filled with all sorts of delicious foods. People were seated around the table and were very hungry. The chairs were five feet from the edge of the table and people could not get out of the chairs; and their arms were not long enough to reach the food.

In the dream, there was only one large spoon, five feet long. Everyone was fighting, quarrelling and pushing each other - trying to grab that spoon. Finally in that awful scene, one strong bully got hold of the spoon. He reached out, picked up some food, and turned it to feed himself. Only to find out that the spoon was so long that as he held it out he could not touch his mouth. The food fell off. Immediately someone else grabbed the spoon. Again, the person reached far enough to pick up the food, but could not feed himself.

In the dream, the man who was observing it all said to his guide, “This is hell … to have food and not be able to eat it”.
The guide replied, “Where do you think you are?” Hell, he replied. And quickly added, “But this is not your place. Come with me.”

And they went into another room. In this room, things were the same as the previous room. People were not able to reach food coz of the same reasons. Yet they had a satisfied, pleasant look on their faces.

Exactly as before, there was only one spoon. It, too, had a handle five feet long. Yet no one was fighting for it.

Here, one man held the handle, reached out, picked up the food, and put it into the mouth of someone else, who ate it and was satisfied. That person then took the spoon by the handle, reached for the food from the table, and put it back to the mouth of the man who had just given him something to eat.

And the guide said, “This is heaven.”

People who try to achieve happiness with selfishness end up in a hell on earth.

If you live by the laws of God and choose to look for people who have burdens, you might be able to help them. But if you look for your own happiness, ignoring the needs of those around you, you will lose out altogether.

WHO HAS NOT FAILED?
---------------------------
I'm going through one of my facebook pieces and I find this...

Even the stars fall from the sky, even the sun fails to rise and shine, even a fisherman returns home without fish, even a hunter returns home without gem, even a swimmer drowns in the pool, even a champion fails at his own game.

If failure were to be celebrated, I would be glad to stand at the same podium with my predecessors to receive my accolade.

My ear listens less to success over success stories. My ear listens more to failure behind success stories.

Failure is the critical ingredient of success. It's the warm ash that covers an overnight roasted cassava at a fireplace.

EMBRACE MOBILE PHONE TECHNOLOGY:

Close to 50% of Uganda's population is using phones. I'm talking of over 20 million phone owners. Telecoms make billions of shillings every day from ordinary Ugandans.

We buy voice, data and sms from these multinationals. Phone use has become a way of life... we can't go back. It's a lifestyle. Our children take it as a way of life... to them it's not technology.

The question arises to whether we are getting real value from the money we spend on phone daily. We need to ask ourselves this question before we think of others.

Let me talk about this in the context of business, work, jobseeking and research. For those in business like me, we need to use a phone as a good business friend... to connect with clients, workers and building useful networks through calls, messaging, skyping, emails and social media. Phone use gives real time results. You don't need to reach office before you start work... in this age we should be talking of phone office... not even virtual office anymore.

Workers... whether managers or subordinate staff should use phone technology to better their jobs... by communicating with their supervisors, peers and juniors as much as possible. Avoid sharing photos and texts that don't add value... ask for your boss' comment on your recent assignment... whether it was well done or needed improvement, talk about new assignments. Keep in touch with everybody in the organization.

Jobseekers can innovatively use phone to pitch with job offerers... or people who can connect them to jobs. Share with friends your CV, competencies and aspirations... Don't nag them, show that you can be a good employee if you got an opportunity.

Research: Phones are helping us hit the internet. Google has all the information we need... art and science. Learn a new thing everyday...even if it's just the meaning of a word. Let's horne our skills through research.

Social calls/chats should take less than 30% of your phone money.

BRAND STORYTELLING...
--------------------------------

We create a powerful brand narrative, the persona – the articulated form of the brand’s character and personality.

We dig deep into the folklore, fairy tales, mythology and classic elements of storytelling to shape a brand story that is both breathtakingly fresh and comfortingly recognizable.
