Spring, in many ways, symbolizes new beginnings. And I’m proud to share a big one.

As of today, Second Shift Design is the agency of record for Finn Corporation.

LinkedIn is an amazing platform. I’m out there being my genuine self. No gimmicks. No “Smoak” and mirrors.

This journey started when Joe Parsons saw what we were doing and reached out about availability for a photo shoot.

From the get-go, Joe and I just “got” each other. We both work hard and want to do great things. (And he wasn’t scared off by my use of gifs to communicate in texts.)

We started with a one-day shoot in Georgia for their Apex brand, and it blossomed into more (including one of the coldest shoots ever for their electric hydroseeder).

Just last month, Nick Gebhardt and I traveled to the HQ in Ohio to do a deep dive with Joe, Todd Thornicroft, and other employees into their brand, manufacturing, and some innovative things they’ll be launching. (Thank you, gentlemen!)

It’s going to be a slow roll-out initially, but we’re excited to start this new journey with Joe, Todd, and the gang at FINN.

And that’s no April Fool’s joke.

PRO TIP: Always shoot in RAW.

People are always asking me how they can step up their photography game. You won't believe the range of adjustments you have just by shooting in RAW. Just check out this before and after. 😮

Out with the old, in with the new! I finally got around to updating my own website. This is a very broad stroke of capabilities, but I'm proud of the work we've done so far.

I'm thrilled to announce that my campaign of photos for Gleaner and Massey Ferguson received Honorable Mention in the 2023 International Photography Awards.

The campaign, entitled simply "Harvest", is comprised of some of my favorite pictures taken to date, so to be recognized by an international jury is a complete honor. A huge thank you goes out to Aaron Beyer, Adam Sills, and Matt LeCroy for their help in setting everything up, for hiring me, and for their unwavering support. (And for also not running me over.) This award is very much theirs also!

Siri, define irony...

Everyone who knows me knows I'm a huge Bama fan.

But I also live in Athens, Georgia, and I've been extremely fortunate to do work with the University of Georgia for several years now. And I have to say, they have a solid brand and brand standards. (And some of the nicest employees!)

While I was excited at the opportunity, I had to laugh a little when the UGA Franklin College of Arts and Sciences asked THE ONLY BAMA FAN IN ATHENS to design the concept truck for the The University of Georgia Redcoat Band.

This is only a concept as they prepare to raise $4 million for the Redcoat Band, but... who knows... maybe this will be reality one day?

Did you know that right now they rent trucks each week, the band members have to pay for their own uniforms and instruments, and they need improvements to their practice field? Also, I was surprised to learn that the Redcoat Band falls under Franklin College and not Athletics.

From this Bama fan... Glory, Glory to old Georgia. Go Dawgs. Roll Tide. Amen.

CANADIAN AGRICULTURE DAY

I'll be honest... I was today's years old when I found out this was a day. I haven't even taken my Toyotathon decorations down yet!

Kidding aside, I'm thankful for our Canadian farmer friends. I had the pleasure of following the Fendt Ideal across Western Canada before the pandemic and meeting some really great people. This particular photo was taken in a beautiful Alberta wheat field for AGCO.

Congratulations to the The Kansas City Chiefs for their comeback win over the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.

While not recognized as much as Mahomes or other playmakers, the crew that preps their home field at Arrowhead Stadium deserves a lot of attention. The detail and love that they pour into preserving a flawless playing surface is top-notch.

I'm grateful to SiteOne Landscape Supply and this crew for allowing us to shoot on their home turf. It remains one of the most fun shoots to date.

“I didn’t know you did that!”

I’ve heard that phrase a lot. Maybe that means I haven’t done the best job marketing myself?

So here’s a video I made that tells a little about my work in 40 seconds.

But in case you decide not to watch it, here’s a quick synopsis. I do graphic design, photography (mostly agriculture, heavy equipment, and concerts), video, and more.

Name-drop time. I’ve been fortunate to do ongoing outdoor photography with AGCO (mainly Massey Ferguson, Fendt, and Gleaner), Kubota, SiteOne Landscape Supply, Newton Crouch, and Prinoth. Concert photography with The JOY FM, Jeremy Camp, and Crowder. And design partners like the University of Georgia, Nichino America, and Krone.

But there’s one person I haven’t worked with…
