Most Florida RV owners think repossession is the end of the problem. It is actually the beginning of a much bigger one.A repossession in Florida drops your credit score 100–250 points. It stays on your report for 7 years. And here is the part most people do not find out until it is too late — your lender auctions the RV for 40–60% below market value, then comes after you for the difference. That deficiency balance does not disappear when the RV does.If you are behind on payments right now, the decisions you make in the next 30 days determine whether you face all of that — or none of it.The full credit damage breakdown is on the blog. From our very first phone call to the day her RV rolled off as sold — Frank was there every step of the way.

Everyone says wait for fall to sell your RV in Florida.

Here's what that advice is missing.

Waiting is not free. A $50,000 RV sitting in your driveway or storage costs you $375–$700 every single month — insurance, storage, registration, maintenance. If peak snowbird season is 4 months away, you are spending $1,500–$2,800 before a single buyer has inquired.

Now compare that to the seasonal price gap: Florida RVs sell for 10–15% more in peak season. On a $40,000 RV that's $4,000–$6,000. Subtract $2,800 in carrying costs and you're not talking about a $6,000 premium anymore — you're talking about $3,200 at best.

And that's before you factor in who is actually buying in summer.

The buyers searching in June, July, and August are not tire-kickers. They are full-timers making a life decision. Retirees who just relocated to Florida and need a unit now. People who have been researching for months and are finally ready to act. They have a reason to buy right now — and that makes them the most motivated buyers I dealt with all year when I was running the lot.

The summer strategy is not about slashing your price. It is about:
✅ Pricing to the actual summer market (not October values)
✅ Writing your listing for buyers who need an RV NOW
✅ Emphasizing A/C, roof seal, and tires — what summer buyers care about
✅ Responding to every inquiry fast — summer leads are too valuable to miss

Sold your RV in Florida? There's one document almost nobody files — and it can get YOU a ticket months later.

Form HSMV 82050 (Notice of Sale) has been legally required since 2009. If you don't file it, your name stays attached to that RV in Florida's system. I've seen sellers get red light camera tickets and toll violations for vehicles they sold 6 months earlier — because neither party filed this form.

The full Florida private sale document checklist:

1️⃣ Certificate of Title — signed over to the buyer
2️⃣ Form HSMV 82050 — Notice of Sale (this is the one people skip)
3️⃣ Odometer Disclosure — recorded on the title
4️⃣ Bill of Sale — recommended (HSMV 82050 can double as one)
5️⃣ Photo ID — required at signing
6️⃣ Lien Release — if you have a loan
7️⃣ Duplicate Title — if yours is lost

It's free to file, takes 10 minutes, and it's the one piece of paper that fully protects you after the sale.

By mid-July, the Florida RV market slows down. Buyers go on vacation, kids go back to school, and listings that weren't moving in June are still sitting in September.

A seller came to me in early June last year with a 2019 travel trailer. He'd been listed for 6 weeks with two no-shows and one lowball offer he'd refused.

We rebuilt the listing — photos, description, price correction — and added a simple pre-qualification step. He had three serious showings in the first week. Sold in 22 days, $1,800 over the offer he'd already turned down.

He made it out before the slowdown. The sellers who didn't move in June mostly waited until October.

If you want to close before summer stalls out, the time to act is right now.
