Sunday Grounding | October 18

When We Get By With Love

As the week unfolds before me, I'm exploring a core principle: What if love functions as a practical, material force?

Not just an emotion, but the deliberate practice of showing up for one another through authentic bonds, steadfast backing, open-handed giving, and compassionate release.

Our modern world constantly urges us toward speed and results. Yet the most meaningful moments arrive when someone chooses true relationship over personal gain.

These words from D'Angelo's When We Get By keep echoing in my mind: "When we get by, we'll make it by, when we get by with love."

The song isn't celebrating solitary victory; it's affirming: When we get by, we'll make it by.

As I prepare for the week ahead, one thing becomes undeniably clear: connection forms the bedrock upon which all achievement rests.

Love can take shape as a meaningful introduction, an earnest recommendation, pooled resources, a thoughtful note, or a perfectly timed link.

We have always gathered strength as one.

Who are you grateful to have on this journey with you right now?

We've Been Deceived About Self-Reliance

A pervasive falsehood in professional culture claims accomplished individuals succeed entirely alone. Build it yourself. Navigate it independently. Solve it solo.

Yet transformation emerges through human connection: dialogue, introductions, endorsements, partners, networks.

D'Angelo's "When We Get By" captures this truth: "When we get by, we'll make it by, when we get by with love." The song never declares I'll succeed or I'll triumph. Instead, it proclaims: When we get by, we'll make it by.

The pronoun we resonates most profoundly. In a society venerating independence and singular accomplishment, this composition offers an alternative: human relationships are the asset we overlook. Not because every request receives affirmation, but because each journey unfolds through kindness, motivation, connections, teamwork, and backing.

Prosperity rarely emerges as an isolated endeavor. It flourishes through bonds, reciprocal exchange, and shared commitment.

Maybe the call is transitioning from I toward we. Who supported your journey this year, and whose progress have you helped elevate and bring in more ease?

What if your next opportunity isn't in a blank document?

What if it's hiding inside something you've already created?

A presentation.

A workshop.

A report.

A training.

A newsletter.

A client conversation.

Most people don't have a content creation problem.

They have a content recognition problem. Valuable content is often hiding inside work they've already created.

The Content Detective Lab™ helps you investigate existing content and identify opportunities you may have overlooked.

If you've ever wondered:

✅ Should I revisit this?

✅ Is it still relevant?

✅ What could it become?

✅ Am I overlooking something?

Invest Where Reciprocity Already Exists.

One of the most powerful takeaways I carried from Evelyn Carter's article -
"For People of Color Mourning the Friendships You Thought You Had"
is: https://mybestfriendisblack.substack.com/p/for-people-of-color-mourning-the?

Many have spent an enormous amount of energy trying to earn reciprocity. Trying to explain our value.
Trying to convince others to show up differently.
Trying to repair what was never mutual.

The Abundant ASK™ invites a different question: What becomes possible when we invest where reciprocity already exists?

This is the heart of the Aquarian Ask. Collaboration. Mutual benefit. Shared purpose. Co-creation.

An ask is not merely a request. It is an invitation into relationship. The strongest relationships are not built through extraction. They are built through contribution, trust, and reciprocal investment over time. :
: What relationship, community, partnership, or collaboration has consistently demonstrated reciprocity in your life this year?

: Within the next 48 hours:
✅ Make an introduction
✅ Share a resource
✅ Send a thank-you note
✅ Refer a client
✅ Offer meaningful support
✅ Make an aligned ask

Choose one. Take the action. Then share what you invested in and what you learned.

Your Next Opportunity May Already Be Looking for You.

The fastest way to grow your business is often through relationships, not more marketing.

Many entrepreneurs spend countless hours creating content, running ads, and chasing visibility. Yet strategic partnerships continue to be one of the most effective ways to expand reach, increase referrals, and create new revenue opportunities.

JV Directory was built specifically to connect coaches, healers, authors, speakers, wellness professionals, and entrepreneurs who are ready to collaborate and grow together. The platform reports access to 1,500+ partners and industry experts, along with searchable networking opportunities and collaboration resources.

If you're building a purpose-driven business, the question is not whether you should network.

The question is: Are you networking in the right rooms? Ready to explore?

Comment CONNECT if you're looking for strategic partnerships, referral relationships, podcasts, speaking opportunities, or collaboration partners in the wellness, coaching, or self-improvement space.

Reciprocity Reveals Hidden Patterns.

A profound insight from Evelyn Carter's article has lingered with me all week: "I wasn't feeling angry at all. I was feeling betrayed." This subtle distinction holds immense power.

Sometimes, we're not mourning the end of a relationship, but the shattering of our illusions about it. We're grieving the narrative we'd constructed.

In The Abundant ASK™, we delve into how our past experiences shape our perception of what's possible. They influence our trust, our asks, and our ability to receive and collaborate.

Today's grounding invitation is simple: Cultivate awareness of where reciprocity already flourishes. Notice who consistently shows up, listens, and invests in you. Notice where your energy is nourished, not drained.

: Where are you already experiencing reciprocity that deserves deeper appreciation?

Take Action: Express gratitude to someone who has consistently supported your growth, ideas, well-being, or success. Who comes to mind first?

Soulful Saturday | October 10

What Is This Relationship Igniting?

This week, I devoured For People of Color Mourning the Friendships You Thought You Had by Evelyn Carter, Ph.D., and one powerful idea still resonates with me: the distinction between generative and extractive relationships.

For People of Color Mourning the Friendships You Thought You Had by Evelyn R. Carter, Ph.D.
Carter writes that generative relationships are those where people can find safety, joy, and growth together, becoming better versions of themselves.

That gave me pause. Not just for friendships, but for partnerships, collaborations, communities, boards, volunteer roles, professional networks, and even our relationship with our own work.

What is this relationship producing?
Abundance or scarcity?
Mutuality or imbalance?
Expansion or contraction?
Trust or exhaustion?

In The Abundant ASK™program, we believe the quality of our asks is often influenced by the quality of the relationships surrounding them.

A generative relationship creates the conditions for authentic asking. An extractive relationship often trains us to over-give, under-ask, and question our own value.

Not every relationship creates the conditions for reciprocity. Recognizing that isn't judgment, it's discernment.

: What relationship, community, or commitment consistently helps you become more fully yourself?

: What Is This Relationship Igniting?
Create two columns: Ignites Energy ⚡️ and Drains Energy ⚠️.
List five names, projects, communities, or commitments under each.

What patterns emerge? Share one insight below.
