A new logo won't fix a brand that can't explain itself.

How do you know if your brand needs more than a logo refresh?

Fizz Creative Co-Founders Katie and Jasen Melnick are tenured specialists in visual refresh. We talked to them about the signs a client needs more than a redesign.

Their take: when a client can't explain what they do simply, no logo is going to fix that. Design without strategy is just decoration with a budget attached. Strategy first. Then design. That's how brands grow with intention.

IPA came to us ready for a visual update, but prebiotics and postbiotics were reshaping the entire category, and a simple brand refresh wouldn't solve that. Before we touched form, color, or typography, we had to answer, "How does one organization hold three very distinct categories without losing what it already earned?"

The result was a complete overhaul of brand architecture, with one parent brand and three sub-brands. We created a brand system around where the industry was going:
-- PREbiotics
-- PRObiotics
-- POSTbiotics
Three sub-brands anchored by one parent, and flexible enough to grow.
