Hail is back on the map!

After a quiet Monday, supercells fire Tuesday afternoon from the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles into Kansas, with large hail as the main threat.

Wichita, Salina, Dodge City and Kansas City are all in the risk zone. Hail up to 2” size are possible as storms track northeast into the evening.

Large hail, strong wind gusts and isolated tornadoes will threaten the Plains as a more active weather pattern begins to unfold.

Starting on Tuesday, hail will be a top threat early, with powerful wind gusts up to 70 mph as storms grow into lines across Kansas and Oklahoma. A tornado or two is possible, especially in southwest Kansas.

Wednesday and Thursday, moisture from Hurricane Simon streams north, bringing 2 to 3 inches of rain from western Missouri to the Texas Big Bend, plus more strong storms.
Looking ahead, a strong cold front is expected to sweep across portions of the Plains later this week, bringing a noticeable cooldown following an extended stretch of above-average temperatures. Some areas could experience temperature swings of 20–40 degrees as cooler, more fall-like conditions return.

Storms fire Tuesday across Kansas, Oklahoma, the Texas Panhandle, and into Missouri, with large hail, strong wind gusts, and an isolated tornado possible. Then tropical moisture moves in with a flood threat Wednesday and Thursday.

Tornado potential will steadily increase this afternoon and continue tonight, especially across the Florida Panhandle, southeast Alabama, and southwest Georgia.

As Isaias tracks north, the tornado threat continues Saturday across parts of eastern Alabama, the Florida Panhandle, Georgia, and the Carolinas.

Hurricane Isaias is maintaining 120 mph winds, moving towards the Gulf coast at an increasing 16 mph. Expect landfall around 1 AM Saturday morning, where coastal Alabama and the Florida Panhandle will take much of the impact.

Storm surge concerns (up to 9 ft) stretch all the way from the Louisiana coast to the Florida coast.

TORNADO RISK: Level 3. Rotating storms embedded in the bands of Isaias will have the potential to produce tornadoes once onshore. Tomorrow, a level 2 risk expands across most of the southeast.

LOOKING AHEAD: BIG changes are coming to the Plains and Midwest! After a week of dry weather, severe storms are likely to return starting MONDAY!
