Donations are rolling in for our "Absolute Equality: Voices of Empowerment" mural project, and we are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received so far!

However, we still need your help to reach our goal. Every contribution counts and brings us closer to honoring the legacies of trailblazing Black women politicians.

Join us in making history—donate today and be a part of this transformative project!

I am beyond overjoyed to announce the completion of the breathtaking Sankofa mosaic mural series at IAH Airport Terminal D Gate 3!

Witnessing this project come to life has been an incredible journey filled with pure joy and excitement.

Over the past 18 months, a dedicated team of 9 visual artists and over 80 volunteers meticulously laid over 250,000 brilliantly colored glass and ceramic tiles to create these stunning mosaics.

The result is a magnificent 19’H x 20’L mural, accompanied by two 8’L x 8’H pieces, each radiating the rich symbolism and vibrant spirit of the Sankofa.

The Sankofa symbol teaches us the importance of looking back to our roots and learning from the past to build a brighter future. These murals are a testament to the power of community, creativity, and cultural heritage. Every tile laid with care and intention reflects the unity and strength found in our diversity.

Next time you’re at IAH, take a moment to immerse yourself in the vibrant colors and powerful stories at Terminal D Gate 3.

This project is a celebration of our shared journey and a tribute to the beauty of our collective efforts. I couldn’t be more proud to share it with you all.

Thanks to the Houston Arts Alliance, the Houston Airport System and the Houston Mayors Office for Cultural Affairs.

Extra special thanks the the Creatives that helped breathe creativity and life into this project: Rhonda Radford Adams, Irene Valentin, Analisa Citizen, Selena Coronado, Joshua Bennett, Crystal Bennett, Lesley-Marie Diaz, Prince Maduekwe, and Eddie Ginther IV.

And another one!

My heart is full and my spirit is inspired about the recent news coverage by the Christian Broadcasting Network, reaching an estimated audience of 30 million!

I’m excited and grateful to see the Absolute Equality-Juneteenth mural project gaining momentum across America!

This recent news article from Colorado Publoc Radio highlighting our movement spreading across the nation is truly inspiring.

Each mural tells a story of resilience, freedom, and the pursuit of equality.

Together, we’re transforming walls into powerful symbols of hope and history.

Let’s continue to paint our path to true freedom for all.

AS WE PRODUCE our second annual “Cool 100” list, we’re reminded of our thoughts as we debuted this feature last year. We acknowledged that deciding who and what is cool is not only a moving target but also entirely subjective. And that attempting to “rank” the coolest people in Houston is ...

What a treat it has been to witness teachers, faculty, community and students come together to co-create the Houston Loves Teachers mural project at Northshore Middle School.

This is what I mean when I say, we put the public in public art!

The campus is led by an exceptional visionary leader and educator, Principal Dr. Eckford. Not only has he wholeheartedly embraced the mural project he’s also touched the mural a few times himself.

This is an absolute first for me because in my 30 year career producing public art and murals within schools the principal has NEVER joined us in painting and definitely never invited his team to help us paint. I’m beyond impressed.

Nevertheless, we are making great progress with just a few more days to go.

Shout out to all of the sponsors for your support and extra special thanks to the art teacher, Ms. Loges and my artist assistants, Katherine Ospina and Claudia Coletto for helping bring out the best in these students.

Is a collaborative effort between the College Football Playoff Foundation , , the Houston 2024 Host Committee, and the Harris County-Houston Sports Authority.
