They just get you invited to the first call.

Because the real decision happens after the meeting... when the buyer opens a new tab and starts doing what they always do:

Google.
LinkedIn.
Website.
“Are these people legit?”

If what they find is a generic vendor soup of buzzwords and polished claims, the referral’s power evaporates.

Here’s the myth: “If someone trusted us enough to refer us, we’re good.”

Reality: your prospect trusts the referrer… until they verify you for themselves.

That’s why the “trust me, we’re the best” line dies on contact.

Trust isn’t claimed. It’s corroborated.

So the question isn’t “How do we get more referrals?”

It’s “What do buyers see when they check if the referral was a mistake?”
