That time I went to Gitchie Manitou State Preserve by myself, but took my Facebook followers along on a live stream. 😳

I had never been there before, wasn’t sure where I was going, and had just heard the story of what happened there.

On November 17, 1973, five teenagers from Sioux Falls were attacked by three brothers at the preserve in northwest Iowa. Four boys were murdered, and 13-year-old Sandra Cheskey was the only survivor.

Knowing that history made it definitely creepy being out there by myself. But it was interesting having so many of you on my live, following along as I explored and learned about what happened.

You all know I love food, drinks, restaurants, and trying places around the Black Hills. And right now, I’m my opinion, Les Deux Coffee in Spearfish has the best tasting and most creative drinks of any coffee shop I’ve been to in the Black Hills! ☕️

Yesterday I had a pink peppercorn latte, and it was SO good. Their menu is small but creative, and they focus on carefully crafted espresso drinks. Their motto is “Good taste is a moral obligation,” and I can appreciate that! 😍

I also love their healthy ingredients, cups, and the simple way the place is decorated. Plus, they add a little heart or latte art on top, which always earns extra points with me! 🫶

I could go on for days about all my favorite places and why. Each one is great in their own way. But right now, Les Deux gets my vote for the best tasting and most creative coffee drinks. I wanted to give them a little shout out! ☕️

My son Cannon is starting braces today at Rapid City Orthodontics! We’re excited to get this three year journey started. He’s a little nervous, which is understandable. 💜

Yesterday you got to see the inside of my eyeballs in a photo, and today you get to see my insides. Perfect for Halloween week, right? 💀

I had a barium study today. That bright white stuff is the barium drink passing through my digestive system. It shows up on X-rays so they can follow its movement through my stomach and intestines. This picture was taken at the one-hour mark.

Of course, my creative mind saw all those shapes and patterns as a work of art, so I had to take a picture and share it with you.

By the way, everything is looking good! They just saw some reflux, where stomach contents come back up into the esophagus.

And I love that you can even see the zipper on my pants on the right side of the picture. 😂

I’ve never seen a shoe like this before, and I have questions 😂 Is anyone else seeing a camel toe?!

I found this Esme split-toe flat at Sweet Repeat, which is actually one of my favorite places to go in Spearfish! It’s a downtown consignment shop known for deals on designer brands, and I love stopping in to see what I can find.

Getting a little spidery for Halloween week! 🕷️🕸️

Did you know I’ve been a certified yoga teacher for over ten years now? I love going to yoga just as much as I love teaching it. Being a student and sharing the practice with others both bring me so much joy. 🧘‍♀️

Spider Pose is a fun way to stretch your hips and inner thighs while putting those legs to work. Here’s how to try this version:

🕷️ Step your feet wide and turn your toes slightly outward.
🕷️ Bend your knees into a wide squat, keeping your knees pointing in the same direction as your toes.
🕷️ Fold your torso forward between your thighs and reach your arms underneath to gently hold your ankles.
🕷️ Let your head relax and take a few slow, steady breaths.

Keep it comfortable, no forcing or pulling yourself deeper! You can keep your hips higher and place your hands on blocks instead of reaching for your ankles.

Come move, stretch, and breathe with me tonight! 🎃

A little Wild West history from Mount Moriah Cemetery. 🪦🍂

Seth Bullock arrived in Deadwood in 1876 and became Lawrence County’s first sheriff in 1877, helping bring order to the booming gold rush town. He was also a businessman and close friend of President Theodore Roosevelt.

Seth and his wife, Martha, are buried together high above the main cemetery. Their graves face toward Friendship Tower on Mount Roosevelt, a stone tower Bullock helped create in 1919 to honor Roosevelt after his death and commemorate their friendship. Bullock died that September and was buried with a view toward the memorial.
